Michael "Mike" Murray

Great Falls - Michael "Mike" Murray, 83, of Great Falls, passed away on January 9, 2021, with his family at his side at Peace Hospice.

Mike was born the youngest of four boys to John and Kathleen Murray on March 19, 1937, in Great Falls. He attended local schools and after a short stint in the Montana Air National Guard, he purchased a delivery service with the slogan "We deliver anything except babies."

After an early retirement and the death of his first wife, he became a greeter at Wal Mart's Garden Center for ten years, a job he thoroughly enjoyed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; a sister-in-law; and two nieces; his first wife, Jean Bashor Murray and her daughter Pam.

Mike is survived by his wife, Michelle; her five children, Jessie, Jayme, Jill, Jodi, and Jerad; nine great-grandchildren, his first wife's children, Mike, Dawn; their children and grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike had said "Even though he didn't have any children of his own, he was blessed to have two wonderful families!"

A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Social distancing and mask use would be appreciated.

Condolences for the family may be shared online at www.OConnorFuneralHome.com.

Although I didn't get to know Mike until the last decade when my father passed away, he certainly was a kind man with a fun sense of humor. I didn't grow up knowing much about the family history on my grandfather's side (Sam McDonald, Sr.). My daughter and I had a long phone call this summer with Mike and he helped us fill in a few boxes on the family tree from both the MacDonald and Rooney families. He actually sent us family photos from the Rooney family. I am sorry I cannot attend the graveside service tomorrow but I will miss Mike and pray that he Rests in Peace. Greg

Uncle Mike was a constant, loving presence in our lives, even though we did not see each other often in the last several years. He was present at almost every important milestone in my life and my siblings' lives --graduations, weddings, etc. He was a one of a kind character, a bright light in our lives that we will miss terribly. Rest in peace Unc!
