Lynne Mehlberg
De Pere - As Lynne Mehlberg's son woke early May 11 to a beautiful sunrise, he knew it was a signal that God would be taking his mom into His arms that day. God also sent a Cardinal to perch outside her loving sister's window to let her know that their Mom had arrived to bring her youngest child to Heaven.
Later that day, with family members who loved her dearly by her side, she became an angel.
The daughter of William and Dawn Schillings, Lynne was born in Rhinelander on September 6, 1963. After graduating from Rhinelander High School, she met and married Rick Mehlberg on October 1, 1988.
"Get up, Dress up and Show up" were the words that guided Lynne's life even after being diagnosed with cancer eight years ago. She would not let the diagnosis define or slow her down as she always enjoyed every day of her life.
She especially enjoyed the times she spent with her husband, family and friends at their cabin on Columbus Lake in Sugar Camp, annual trips to the Gulf Shores, and her days with all of the children and co-workers at Westwood Elementary in West De Pere where she was an administrative assistant.
Showing up for work every day was a joy for Lynne because she was able to spend time with her second family that she loved dearly.
She will be missed every day by her loving husband, Rick, De Pere; a daughter, Meghan, and her husband, Bryan Fuss, Green Bay; son, Sam, and his special friend, Kim MacGregor, Green Bay; and Shelly Drewiske, Green Bay.
Lynne also will be missed by brothers Barry (Kris) Schillings, Kentucky; Larry (Jean) Schillings, New Jersey; Susie Lockart, Oklahoma; Kathy (Larry) Desch, Green Bay; Sherry Schillings, Rhinelander; Robbie Schillings, Rhinelander; brother-in-law Dean Mehlberg, Luxemburg; sister-in-law Lisa Mehlberg, Green Bay; sister-in-law Karee Mehlberg, New Mexico; mother-in-law Judy Cyr, De Pere; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She also is survived by Gryffindor, her fur baby; Trixie the bar cat and five granddogs.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Schillings; mother, Dawn Schillings; brother, Tom Schillings; father-in-law, Roger Mehlberg; and stepfather-in-law, Bob Cyr.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Bellin Cancer Team and Unity Hospice, Froedert Medical Center in Milwaukee and the Illinois Cancer Specialists in Chicago.
A memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Earl at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 19, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 S Ridge Rd, Green Bay.
Following the service, the family invites friends to celebrate Lynne's life with drinks, horderves, snacks and music at a site to be announced at the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established with proceeds going to Westwood Elementary School. Donation boxes will be at the church and at the celebration that follows.

Both my children went to Westwood and graduated from West DePere School. And we also belong to Calvary Lutheran Church.
I do not Ever recall Lynn ever Not being a kind, caring, sweet, smiling, helpful lady. I had a sick child throughout the school years and she was so caring. A bright, shining joy to talk to or see.
I had no idea she had been sick. So sorry she had to go through cancer and leave her family way too soon. A true Angel here and now watching over all!
Our families thoughts and prayers are with all her family. Thank you for sharing her with all the children and families in the West De Pere School District. We were blessed!

Dear Mehlberg Family, my children went to Westwood school. When I would come in to volunteer, Lynne always had a smile for me. She was caring, gentle, and kind to all. I am grateful for the times she helped my kids. She will be fondly remembered.

Dear Mehlberg family,
I have been the Bellin onsite nurse at West DePere School District for many years and considered Lynne a friend. We had wonderful conversations about not only her health and health challenges throughout her cancer journey, but also shared love of family and friends and how amazingly passionate she was for all of you! Her zest for life, her ability to always see the good in people and life as a "cup half full" and always opportunity to grow and find the best out of life are attributes I will cherish always! She was such a special lady, and my life is better for knowing her. You all have my deepest sympathy...she loved you all dearly and I know she will be dearly missed.
I cannot be with you on Saturday (as much as I would like to be), so sending my love and deep admiration for your wife/mom/sister/friend.
Enjoy the celebration of her life!
