Sam Nesemann Obituary

Nesemann, Dr. Sam Perry

Dr. Sam Perry Nesemann of Indialantic, FL (formerly Brookfield, WI) passed away November 6, 2018, at the age of 79. Survived by his wife Nancy Jo Duffy-Nesemann of 4 years. Preceded in death by his wife Laura of 47 years. Father to the late Dr. Christopher (Lydia) Nesemann, Mara (Russ III) Darrow and David (Kelly) Nesemann. Grandfather of Stephen and Jaclyn Nesemann; Russell, Angela, the late David, Mitchell and Thomas Darrow; Alex and Claire Nesemann. Also survived by his sister Ann Bailie and remembered by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sam grew up in Algoma Wisconsin, and attended and graduated from Algoma High School with his sweetheart and classmate Laura. He earned his undergraduate degree from Marquette University and his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Sam also proudly served as a Captain in the Air Force performing duties as a surgeon and pilot flying jets like the F100. In his early career, Sam was appointed to the full-time faculty at Milwaukee County General Hospital in the Medical College of Wisconsin's Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program. He worked there for 6 years and, with his strong engineering background, was credited with creating a constant flow of innovations in design for areas such as total hip prostheses and a unique stabilizing cylinder for achieving stability in spinal fusions. Since 1977 Sam spent the remainder of his 30+ year professional career as an orthopaedic surgeon in private practice. He worked tirelessly and served countless patients with both skill and compassion including helping hundreds of hard working members of the Teamsters. As a surgeon, Sam preached the body is always better at healing than the knife. In doing so, he considered his patients' long-term well-being first insuring they had the very best chance of improved comfort and quality of life. Outside of work Sam loved golfing and spending time on Pewaukee Lake sailing "Samurai" or cruising the lake in his speed boat "Miss Wisc". In winter he never missed the chance to ski fresh powder in the mountains of Utah. A sport and passion he proudly introduced and shared with his entire family. May you rest in peace surrounded by loved ones gone before and with your soul filled with love and reconciliation.

Not sure what to say?

Dr. Sam was my main physician when I was in auto accident on May 29th of 1969. My legs were crushed between bumpers of 2 cars after the other car was going 60 mph. I was in hospital for over 8 months with over 30 surgical procedures including pedical flap, bone graphs, vein graphs, skin graphs and more new procedures. He became not just my doctor, but my friend. They thought I would lose both legs, but now I'm 77 years old and I still have my legs. Not that I didn't have problems like Infections, but still walking

Dr. Sam came into my life on Nov. 1, 1971 when I was in a near fatal car crash. He was on the "Orange Team". He was an awesome human being who guided a very scared but confident 20 year old facing life as an amputee. He loved chocolate covered peanuts which I provided befor each of the numerous surgeries. I am 67 and still remembering my time when a young Dr. Sam stepped into my chaotic life putting me back together one bone, one situation at a time. Thank you Dr. Sam.

I will always be forever grateful to you Dr Nesemann. I wouldn't of been walking as good as I do if it wasn't for the excellent care I received when you were my doctor. I was only 13 yrs old when I was hit by a car and you were in the ER that night, and took care of me through the years of all my surgeries. Your family has my deepest sympathy.

Dear Mara & David,

We have fond memories of babysitting you kids for many years when you lived at Coachlight in New Berlin.

We remember nice talks we would have with your dad when he would give us fast rides home in his silver corvette! He would drive with the top down and the heat on.

Dr. Nesemann was an intelligent, kind, genuine, and fun loving man.

We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,
