Over four years have elapsed since Ellen passed away and I am truly saddened as I have just discovered this today. My condolences to Ellen's family and friends as it is difficult to lose someone at such a young age; especially when that someone is as special as Ellen. I always expected great things from Ellen as she was an inspiration to all that met her; she was a talented women who had charisma, intelligence, determination and her greatest strength was that she truly cared about people.
I am currently at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL and I was just thinking about her the other day. Maxwell is the last place I saw Ellen in 2006 while we were both here attending Professional Military Education. We had the opportunity to meet other members from the University of Hawaii ROTC program where I first met her and we would occasionally meet to play racquetball where I was exposed to talents she possessed in that area as well. It is really difficult to believe that she passed away just two years later. Ellen was an astonishing woman and her memory lives on in all of the people that she touched.

Ellen, I might not have had the pleasure of meeting in person while we both served in the Air Force, but, thanks to your mother, we get to meet here. May the candle I'm leaving in your memory, shine as bright as you are. With much love from one vet (a former Capt) and island person to another.

The Lord blessed the world with Ellen. It was an honor to know her and call her my friend. She was a great role model, a true inspiration. I'll never forget her confident nature, her compassion, no nonsense personality and her pride in her heritage. May God bless the entire Taitano family. She will be missed.
