Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Aamot Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Aaron S. Aamot US Army Specialist. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

Not a day goes by that Dan and I don't think about Aaron. Dan is still there fighting the fight. Aaron was my husband Dan's "Soldier" but he was also his friend. I remember when my husband would call me to bring him lunch when they were training or out at a range he always said bring some for Gooch and Aamot too.He always wanted to make sure Aaron and Gary (who we have lost also ) were taken care of. He would come home before the guys left and tell me what a good job they were all doing at getting prepared to go downrange.We have lost so many wonderful young lived in 5/2 1-17 and we are only almost half way done with this mission. The guys left for Afghanistan in a certain order and Aaron left before Dan. That frustrated him to no end because he wanted to be there when they got there. He wanted to get there together, do their job and most important come home together. Sitting on my desk at home is the document awarded with an Army Acheviement Medal in Aarons name. It came in after Aaron had already left for Afghanistan. My husband brought it home and told me to put it up. "I will give it to him when we get back" he said. I would love to get it to his family. Aaron was a part of our everyday lives, we miss him so much and our hearts ache everyday for his and the other families in 1-17 who have lost their Soldier as well. To his family we pray your pain gets earsier to bear, we know it will never go away. Thank you for raising such an amazing Soldier and man who came into our lives. Our Love~Sgt Daniel and Katharina Nickell 5/2 Infantry 1-17 Chosin Company
I am so sorry to hear of your family's loss. I want to thank you for your son's service and dedication to our nation. May our Father give you comfort and peace.

That leads all the way to the

We honor your sacrifice may you rest in peace.
As I read through the newspaper coverage of this young man's life I was struck by how much he packed into his few short years. Many live a lifetime and achieve less and while we can only be saddened by the brevity of his time on earth, I hope that those who love him best will gain some comfort in knowing that he made a difference, to many people.
Rest in peace Spc Aaron Aamot - you are remembered and honored.
The Final Salute
āBrothers in Armsā, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged āHand Salutesā as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This āHand Saluteā is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms SPC Aaron Aamot. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Aaron. And to Aaron it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Aaron, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,353 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Aaronās family and loved ones.

Dear AAmot Family,
I did not Know Aaron but I am proud of him.I thought of this letter written Nov. 21, 1864 to Mrs Bixby
Dear Madam,
You are the Mother of two sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours, to laid so costly a sacrifice upon the alter of freedom.
your, very sincerely and respectfully... Abraham Lincoln
This letter could have been written to your family even in 2009. Thank-you Aaron

I never knew Aaron, but am deeply saddened by his death. It could easily have been my son, my brother, my nephew. Aaron gave the greatest sacrifice for his country. Of this the Aamot family must be proud. I had tears running down my face as I read the articles about his death, and the procession to Ferndale. I am proud to be able to be a part of a county that deeply grieves the loss of its young men and women, and shows the support to the family that was shown that day. I can not imagine what the Aamot family is going through, but my heart goes out to you. Know that there are people all around you that are there for you. What I can really say is Thank you for doing what you believed your duty was in making this the greatest country on earth!
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
To the Aamont Family,
My deepest sympothy and heart felt thanks go out to all of you for your loss and the thanks are for you lending your son to all of us with out the son's of this country none of us would be free. To The Aamot Family. I cannot imagine the great loss you're feeling right now. My son was deployed to Iraq twice while he served in the Navy. I was scared every day he was there and I don't think I breathed easier until I knew he was back here. He's been out almost a year, and I'm thankful and blessed that he survived. Your son is a Hero, and from everything I've read, well loved. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family during this difficult time.
It seems like it was yesterday that we were hanging out when we were kids. Aaron will be deeply missed. I served in the Navy Seabees for 7 years. Thank you, Aaron for your service. My heart sunk when I heard the news last Friday.
I never met you, but it was an honor to escort you home.
'Til we meet, brother.....
I wasn't friends with Aaron, but I attended school with him. Just a hello and passing in the halls. Even though I didn't know him well, I knew he was a great person and he would do great things. When it was announced on the local news that Aaron had passed away I cried and felt a loss for Aaron's family, and all of his friends. I can imagine how you feel now, having gone through a couple of losses myself. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
all gave some, but some gave all!! if our tears could bring you back to our arms, you'd be here today. our prayers are being sent to the family and friends. the ferndale community has felt a great loss of you.
Aaron,
I remember you as a teenager, at the Ferndale Civil War renactments. So spirited and full of life. I know right now you are at peace knowing how much you were loved by your family and friends.
You will be greatly missed. God's Speed friend.
I didn't know Aaron, but I know he was very precious to you. My daily prayers go out to ALL of our military members and their families. He now rests in the arms of our loving God. Please accept my deepest condolences.
I went to school with Aaron...when I read about your loss, I couldn't help but cry. I could not believe someone I went to school suddenly bacame our hero. As I drove through ferndale yesterday it touched my heart to see so many people out waiting for him to arrive. I cried and said a prayer. I want to thank everyone who took the time to honor our hometown hero. Welcome home Aaron and thank you so much for fighting for our country. You would be so proud! My thoughts and prayers are with your family. God bless, and may you rest in peace solider!!!
I never new Aaron very well but I wish his family sympathy. But to Me he was a brave and great soul.
Dear Aamot Family,
Aaron was a wonderful young man who loved life and his country. We knew
Aaron through Critter's and Company 4-H Club. He always looked up to Matt, his older brother, when he returned from his service to our country.
Aaron was a kind and gentle young man. We have so much respect for him serving our country and sacrificing his life that we may be safe and free. I know your pain, as we lost a son at a young age also. You never recover but you do heal. God is good and he will help you through this.
Our hearts go out to your family. We are proud that we knew your son. My husband served in Vietnam and we know what sacrifices it takes to keep our country safe. Your family has taken the ultimate toll.
God bless you all and know that Aaron is in a better place, free of pain and with our Lord in Heaven.
God bless your family.

To the family of SPC Aamot. I am a member of the Army currently serving in Afghanistan as well as a 1989 graduate of Ferndale H.S. First my deepest sympathies for the loss of your son. Any time we lose a soldier we have to remember it was the family who gave us their most cherished possession to protect. I pray that you may find peace in knowing that your son was protecting the Afghan people and allowing them to push off the oppression brought on by so many different forces. I never knew Aaron but the Whatcom County binds are deep and I feel the loss as if I had lost one of my own soldiers or a cherished friend. I pray that he is at peace in the house of the Lord and that he will guide us all in the healing of our hearts. I wish to thank the supporters who lined Main St and brought Aaron home. The honors you have given him means more then any medal ever will. It was just a week ago one of my Soldiers in Kandahar assisted the team with the ramp ceremony here honoring him and ensuring he was taken care of. I sit here with tears in my eyes knowing that he made it home. Thank you all for your support.

We will be praying for you all. Warren and Sharon Smith
I didn't know Aaron as well, but my daughters are his age and went to school and FFA with him and spoke very highly of him. Although calling him a hero is an understatement, it doesn't take away the pain from losing a child. It was an honor for me to have ridden in the motorcade for him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
