Hello,

We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Anthony M. Lightfoot US Army Specialist.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

My heart goes out to Anthony's family. I found out about what happened when I was trying to track him down a couple of years ago and I was so heartbroken to read the story. He was a year behind me at Woodside and we played in the band together. He was such a sweet guy and I remember he was always drawing. There's really nothing that can be said to replace a family member but they live on in our memories. For some reason he's been heavy on my mind lately. I'm sending up special prayers for his family and all the families of our lost soldiers. May God protect those that are still out there and those that will be sent there before this is all over. To Anthony's mom, stay strong. I know that some days will bring about feelings of loss and sadness while others will bring feelings of joy and happiness in the memories you carry with you. You raised a wonderful and astonishing young man who touched and blessed the lives of many. May God give you the peace and joy that He wants us all to have. He'll never be forgotten.

My heart goes out to the family of Anthony Lightfoot. I was stationed with his mother SFC Lightfoot in Gulf War. Never realized she just had a child (Anthony). She appeared very strong, reserved and to herself, but a great NCO nonetheless, who brought into this world a wonderful, handsome some man, soldier and hero. God bless your family.

Dear Anthony this is Mom, I really miss you, you made all of us come together whenever we were said especial me. It has been a long time since I wrote to you I know you are somewhere in Heaven looking down on the family saying keep me alive in spirit and we do every day I find myself a crying sometimes, I will never forget you son and your memory live on in me. Its funny how famous people die and they talk about them for weeks and year and make a big deal. I wish to God they would do that for every American Solidier that has die for our great country. So in closing Love you Son, Mom. You Are Never Forgotten.

Hey Anthony,

I miss you, buddy. I think of you often and how close we were in high school and how we would always hang out and practice our band music at my house together. My most fond memory was when hurricane Isabel hit Newport News, VA and the city was with out power for like two weeks - you stayed a whole week at my house because I had power and you didn't. Anthony, you will always be a brother, loyal friend, and a hero in my eyes. You are never forgotten.

In a couple of months, i will find myself graduating from highschool and enlisting in the U.S. Air Force to help pursue my future education and experience. And for the past while i have been wondering if the path i am about to embark was the right one. But on my recent visit to Arlington on January 19, 2010, i came across Anthony's grave. i realiized then and there that he was my American hero. And so when i am depolyed later this year or anytime in my life, i am defending and honoring this nation because of heroes like Anthony. Thank you Anthony and god bless. I even remember when I let you borrow my video game and you never gave it back...lol,the times we use share playing manhunt, hide and seek, football, and basketball. I known you for seven years and our time together was priceless, I wish i could just have one more day, or a few minutes, so I could tell you I love you and much you meant to me. I pray daily and tell you I love and recap all of our memories. Watch over me and lead me in the right direction. I love you Anthony, and you will forever be in my heart. You was more than a Best Friend you was also a brother to me.

To LaVonne Lightfoot,

I just wanted to let you know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Just last week we were looking through my pictures and among them found quite a few of Anthony. He and my son Christopher were friends starting in elementary school, and the rest of the family enjoyed his company so much. We were all sad to say goodbye then, and there are no words to express the sorrow of saying goodbye to him at such a time as this. He was a wonderful child, and it was never a surprise to hear so many good things about the young man that he had become.

I just watched your CNN video and wanted to say thank you for sharing your story. I know the bond the two of you have is so strong. He always spoke of you with such love and respect. Anthony was always someone we were proud to say felt more like a family member than a friend.

To the family of a BRAVE SOLDIER,
Let me begin by saying that my families prayers are with you. I don't know if you remember me Ms. Lightfoot, but I was your son's recruiter in Jonesboro. I just found out about your loss and my heart goes out to you. Anthony was a very proud man who wanted to be a soldier and serve his country. I had the HONOR and privilage to be his friend as well as his mentor. If you remember anything about me, it was that I cared about every person that sat in my seat when they walked through the door. My telephone was always on in case you or Anthony ever needed me. I mourn with you and your family. It was always a good day when ever Anthony would come to the office for training and know so much because of what you taught him. I was always telling him how proud I was of him and that he could always email me while he was in Basic Training or any other time. Again , I am deeply sorry for your loss. Please email me if there is anything that I can do for you. You can find me on AKO. God Bless you and your family.

THEY WERE DOING THERE JOB AN WHAT THEY LIKE TO DO BEST.I TALK TO ALL OF THEM EVERY NITE BEFORE I GO TO BED. CAUSE I KNOW THEY ARE LISTEN. BUT IF YOU NEED ANY THING YOU KNOW. GOD BLESS
August 22, 2009
To the parents and family, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I know only too well what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Grief is an individual journey, that unfortunately like my own self you now have to travel. It doesn’t matter how they died but how they lived that we should focus on. We know that each one in our military joined to make a difference in their own lives and to serve their country. Please know that each one no matter what is an American Hero and to be honored always and forever. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to hold your hand as He gives comfort to you today and for the rest of your life.

I saw the interview of LaVonne Lightfoot on CNN last week. I was incredablly moved by what you said, and what you have gone through. In 2003 we loss a good friend in Irac, Pvt. Scott Tyrrell. Since that time my own son Pvt.John Price, IV has enlisted in the army. He was home on leave from mos training when I saw you on CNN. The reallity of what our young men and women are willing to do to preserve our rights as americans is something hard to understand. I felt a connection to LaVonne when I realized that Anthony was one month to the day older than my son. Thank you for raising a son who was willing to fight for all of us,and accept my appreaciation for sharing your story. IF I can be of any help emotionally or otherwise, fell free to contact me.

Please accept my deepest sympathies for the loss of your son. I pray that the memories of him bring you comfort and in time ease your pain. God Bless you.

To Ms. Lightfoot and Family:
Anthony was but 13yrs old when this war began, by the time he joined there were no shortage of casualties in Iraq or Afghanistan; yet he joined and put himself at the front in the infantry. Every war, every battle needs a pointman. Anthony knew the dangers and consequence but took the point anyways. His courage is beyond reproach; his sense of duty to his country is remarkble and all he was, was a direct reflection of those who raised him. Ms. Lightfoot thank you for raising a model American Hero, your sacrifice will always be remembered by those that have survived these wars. As a soldier I want to thank you for sharing your story and rekindling the Patriotism we should not so easily forget. My family will pray for you and Anthony tonight and know that Anythony died with his brothers, for the love of the Father (God), because of how he was raised by his Mother the toughest soldier of them all.
With much love and respect,

To Anthony's mother. I saw the very moving, though painful, story on CNN about you and your son and what you have been through these past few weeks. I have a son presently in Afghanistan. I live in fear of the knock on my door. Your dignity and strength brought me to tears, but have also brought some serenity to me. I'm not sure I know why. May God bless and be with you and may God bless Anthony.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Thank you so much for sheering your young son, our hero.

You are my Hero may God keep you in his arms forever.
August 04, 2009
God bless you, keep you in His care and be your strong tower in your time of sorrow.

There are no words that I can say to take away your feeling of pain although I express my deepest sympathy to you, his mother and his family. I saw his pictures today on CNN and I will never forget his sitting with his other brothers in arms. I can tell he was the light of your life - one of your "investments" and you, dear mother, did well. We may not know your pain and suffering but know this: there are many of us that will keep his picture in our memory. I will volunteer at our nearby Army facility in honor of your son. Thank you for sharing your son with us - I am forever grateful for his contribution. Gone but not forgotten!

To the Lightfoot Family,

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. Anthony shall never be forgotten.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

Every second you sacrificed
I hold you in my prayers.
So with one hand on my heart and the other in the air;

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you.

Follow The Rainbow To Heaven.
=======================================

A Soldier had die out on the
battlefield;

Broken hearts are weeping For
Them,

But take comfort of knowing
that God had sent Them a
rainbow from heaven;

The Souls of the Soldiers
have gone to there home
in heaven,

Our Loved One's has follow
God's lovely rainbow in the
sky;

All the way to the end of the
sky.

That leads all the way to the
other end of the Lord's
house in heaven,

So just keep on praying and
trust that God will send us
that same rainbow in the sky;

Where Our Loved One's are
waiting For You and For Me at
the end of the rainbow in
heaven.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms Spc. Anthony Lightfoot. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Anthony. And to Anthony it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Anthony, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,353 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Anthony’s family and loved ones.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
