Backing the Blue, and those that served. He died doing what he loved. This 9/11 I participate in the 9/11 Remembrance Run. I'll be carrying a tag with Alfred Marchand's name, and remembering the honor with which he served others. For personal reasons, I was hoping I would be able to run this race for a first responder, or a member of the flight crew. Not that the passengers were not equally important. I just had my reasons. But, I didn't specify, and would have been honored either way. I am honored to race for Alfred Marchand. Not only was he a first responder, but that day he was part of the flight crew. I can think of no greater honor. May his family find peace, and know his life, and service is not forgotten.

Just remembering...

That we were about the same age, in our early 20s, when Al took a night class from me at NMSU/Alamogordo...

That Al came to our house, in full patrolman's uniform, at our request, when four-year-old Jerico shoplifted some Michael Jackson bubble-gum cards and spoke to him so tenderly...

That Joshua and Jerico, who grew up on the same street, went on to play high-school football together...

That our lives were blessed by knowing Al Marchand.
