Many years have passed but the courage, tenacity and multiple abilities of this fine young American remain unchanged - indeed we have more need than ever of all that she represented. Her smiling face in these photos and the words written by her comrades give a clear picture of exactly who and what she was, both to all those who loved her and love her still, to her comrades in arms and to those of us who only came to know of her after her passing.
Peace to you Lt. Walker and to your family.

I went to Wuerzburg High School with Laura. She was truly one of the strongest, smartest and most beautiful people I've ever had the pleasure of calling a friend in my life. I hoped our paths would one day cross during my tenure in the Army. From time to time she and others cross my mind that made the ultimate sacrifice. She will never be forgotten.

You were the baby of the team, the silly, goofy one. You never took life serious but yet always protected your teammates and your goal. You were always quiet and soft spoken but yet when you spoke you commanded an audience and your message was worth listening to. I miss you kid! I hate that you are taken so young but your legacy lives on with so many people that had the pleasure of having you in their life. You my friend are not and will not ever be forgotten. Your words of wisdom are still embedded in my mind. Cheers, peace and love.

Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers ([email protected]) is an organization with groups throughout the country who strive to send handmade prayer shawls and/ or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your daughter’s sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. May God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead. Sincerely, Lynne

I recently did a children vacation bible school. All the children are new Americans. I had the honor to remember 1st Lt. Laura Walker as the children prepared for the "Pledge of Allegiance". I shared with the children how blessed they are to live in the greatest nation in the world! Our ensign, flag stands for freedom and freedom is never free. I had 5 large American flags I asked the children, who would like to hold the flag, in honor of young brave defenders of freedom, like 1st Lt Laura Walker, who gave her life to keep Americans free. I told the children, this is why we have great respect for our flag. If you have the honor of holding our flag, it is never to touch the ground. Our flag or ensign is who we are as a people. With that, 4 little boys and 1 girl asked to hold our flag. I reminded the children, whenever you recite the "Pledge of Allegiance" remember the "New Generation which the stars have fallen up, remember Lt. Walker and all our Armed Forces protecting you today. Little Adam age 6, then led the children as we recited our "Pledge of Allegiance". The children were so careful not to let the flag touch the ground. When it came time to put the flags away one of the boys said, Chap. Desiree did I do a good job with the flag? I said, "You most certainly did!"

To 1st Lt. Laura Walker, the children of New York will never forget you. You are our hero. Because Jesus lives we know we shall see you again at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. We love and honor you. Thank you for keeping us free.

I am presently in Spain walking 500 miles along the Camino de Santiago. It is an ancient pilgrimage to the burial place of St James, the Camino will take me approx 7 weeks to complete. To make this Camino meaningful I am doing it in Lauras honor with your permission of course. Every morning before setting out I think of her and get strength and quidance from her. It is a true honor to be doing this for her.

To the Family of Laura M.Walker,

I would like to express my condolence to the family on the loss of your dear loved, I know it has been six years but it has to be just as hard for the family.
I like to share some encouraging thoughts from the Bible, something Laura would have appreciated.

At Job 14:14-15-"If a man dies, shall he live again"?
The answer is Yes, because Almighty God has not only the power, but he also has the desire to resurrect persons whom he chooses.

How would you feel if you knew that God promises a reuion with your loved one was possible right here on the earth, under the best of conditions?
Well, the Bible promises at Psalms37:29-"The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it".

I hope these scriptures bring the family a measure of peace.

From a Stranger who truly cares.

Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
