Bobby Joseph Rogers, 81, died April 14, 2019, at home in Pascagoula after courageously battling ALS. He was born Aug. 30, 1937, in Moss Point, MS, to Winfred L. "Bobby" and Joseph M. Rogers. In youth, Bobby Joe enjoyed playing football, fishing, shrimping and hunting. He worked in a machine and later wood product shop with his family and graduated from Moss Point in 1956. Bobby Joe became an American Welding Society-certified inspector, worked in Montana, Oregon and Louisiana, retired from Ingalls. He enjoyed family, friends, art, movies and Facebook. Preceded in death by his devoted wife of 47 years, Peggy; his parents; and brothers Lewis, Alvin, Paul and Jimmy. Survived by children Tracy (Steve) Cooley; Steven (Nona Beth); Katherine Brown; Jill (Kutsal) Sertsoz; and Amy Medley; sisters Susan (Doug) Ingram and Linda (Don) Gaines; brother Bill (Betty); seven grands, nine great-grands and a host of nieces and nephews. A kind, strong, loving gentleman, Bobby Joe is dearly missed. Peggy Woodruff, with whom he shared a special friendship in his last three years, grieves him. All agree that he is with Our Lord Jesus in Heaven. A service is planned for a later date.
