NANCY ANN CARRAWAY GUNTER, a native of Sopchoppy, FL and longtime resident of Theodore, AL, died Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the age of 84. Nancy was a one of a kind lady. She loved everything she came in contact with-her home, her church, her children, her loving husband who was her anchor, and more than all of these, her Lord. Her whole life was devoted to Him. In her younger years, she was active in the ministry. She was an excellent cook, a great decorator and a wonderful friend to anyone in need of a friend. She graduated from Pascagoula High School and Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie, TX. She spent over 60 years being a sister-in-law to Lavada, Mildred, Betty and Hilda Gunter and Shirley Patrick. Those years were wonderful years of friendship. Nancy was preceded in death by an infant son, Alvin Jerome Gunter; her father, Clarence E. Carraway; her mother, Ethel Grimes Myrick; step-mother, Evelyn Carraway; brother, Charles E. Carraway; step-brother, Buddy Myrick; and step-sister, Wiladean Middleton. Her survivors include her husband of 60 years, William C. Gunter; her son, William T. (Kim) Gunter; daughter, Rhonda G. (Charles) Scelsi; grandsons, Drew (Sarah) Scelsi and Matthew Scelsi; step-sisters, Becki Chavis and Betty Harvell; brother-in-law, Byrum Gunter; sisters-in-law, Shirley Patrick, Lavada Gunter, Hilda Gunter and Betty Carraway; numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives; and special friends, Dewitt and Dolly McCrary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Nancy's name to Oak Park Church of God, 3321 Sollie Road, Mobile, AL 36695. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 10, 2020 at 12:30 PM from Oak Park Church of God. The family will receive friends at the church Friday beginning at 10:30 AM.
