Joan and Family,

Never in my life have I known a kinder, more generous or compassionate human being.

It was my honor and privilege to work with him and learn from him during my years at The James. He was a true healer, his care and concern for his patients was unbounded. I was humbled every day by the person he was. I could only dream of rising to his standard.

My daughters still remember with great fondness him taking them fishing on Lake Erie and our day trip to Kelly's Island on FellowShip. I, of course, will never forget my once-in-a-lifetime trip through the inside passage of Alaska on KinShip. All because of the incredible kindness of Jim, Joan and his brother Jack. Truly one of the best experiences of my life.

Over the years, we had too many memories, mostly fun ones, to count. All I can say is how thankful I am that Jim was a part of my life and such a good friend.

There is no one that I have ever admired or respected more. No words can describe how much he is missed.

During my 73 yrs on this earth, I've been blessed to have worked with 3 people who changed my life. Jim Ungerleider was one of them. Intellectual, quietly driven, full of wonderful, sometimes unexpected dry wit, and a friend who was all about changing the status quo in order to make life better for others...a true humanitarian. Jim was a Godsend to me. I wanted him to know that, so I recently went online trying to locate him. Needless to say, when I saw his picture in the obituaries, I was saddened beyond words.

To Jim's family..Thank you for sharing Jim with all of his work families. I know that you have your faith and wonderful memories to get you through this difficult time. Clennia Bond
