What a great Lady! I was one of her 6th grade students @ East Farms school...at the time I of course was not aware of just how accomplished a women she was. I feel fortunate to have been one of her students.

God Bless.

Mrs Hawley was my one of my mom's best friends! I remember them canning and freezing vegetables in our kitchen. She gave me a kitten once that I took home zipped in my coat. My condolences to all the Hawley family on the loss of your wonderful mother, grandmother, and aunt.

Mrs. Hawley was one of the best teachers I ever had. 5th and 6th grade at East Farms Elementary School and our Shakespeare play was MacBeth. High school students today who are assigned MacBeth as juniors cannot believe we did the play in Shakespearean English when we were just 11 years old! My condolences to the family and to all she touched. This is a beautiful obituary.

Since the 1960's , I was in a book club with Rosalie. She was passionate about reading good literature, and discussing it. She managed to continue to keep up with the club and our reading, even when she could no longer come to be with us in person. Whenever we met at her home, she always had an array of wonderful homemade desserts. Though her body gave out , her mind never did. She was always young at heart. What a wonderful enthusiastic woman.
