I first met Athella when I was ten or so. She was a humorous, commanding presence. A few months ago we accompanied Ruth to visit Athella in Gainesville. She was as bright and witty as ever, with a twinkle in her eye. The world is a less happy, giving, and civilized place with her passing. We will miss her.

- If Life is entertainment, sometimes with a tear, others with a smile, many times with laughs, I must call Athella a Thespian of Life. My truly condolences for my the family, friends and all the people that was so lucky to meet this incredible person.

Athella always had an interesting story or two when we visited. She never complained and had a pleasing attitude "hey, there is always tomorrow."
Glad to have known you.
