Just heard that great-Aunt Barbara had passed. A wonderful woman, enjoyed my visit with her last year. She was a dear woman with many interests. She and Uncle Joe were kind to us all. An era has ended.

Please let me express our sincere condolences to Bill, Alice, Jeff, Janet, and the rest of Barbara's family and friends. Please let me know the details about her memorial service this summer in Hartford, CT this summer.
Barbara was a dear friend of mine. Since I was going to have surgery and be hospitalized over Christmas, Barbara invited me to visit her and we got together on Dec. 9. We had a lovely time together laughing over Charlie's antics of chasing light reflections in her sun room. She insisted on making me a lunch which was delicious and she delighted in the little Christmas gifts that I had brought for her. She especially like the chocolates and note pad that looked like Charlie. And we talked about everything from current affairs, to our families, to the very minutiae of our lives. Then we shared a big hug as I took my leave. It was the last time that I saw her.
We, my husband, Mike, my daughter, Christina, and I moved to Mayville just a few months after Barbara came. Mike and Christina while taking a walk up the hill as Christina picked tiny wildflowers met this elegant lady, Barbara walking down the hill with her adorable, poodle, Lizzie. Everyone enjoyed each other's company. She was our neighbor up the hill, and she became our great friend.
Her friendship helped me through the good and difficult times of the past eleven years-- my daughter growing from a tiny child to a young lady; my mother moving to Mayville and then finding out that she had a rare cancer, and the resulting hospitalizations, surgeries, and chemo; Barbara helped me dealing with my mother's death; and Barbara concern for my well being and my family's, especially my recent health problems. She was "there" for me even during the last days of her life. She had Denise dial the phone so she could talk with me during my hospital stay.
Barbara loved my homemade chicken soup and baked goods. She enjoyed sharing her recipes with me. We just enjoyed each other. With Barbara's sparkling personality, she was a pleasure to be with and her was always thankful. She was thankful to have come to Mayville and she made many friends here. No wonder, her glass was always more than half full, it was overflowing. She was very thankful to her dear family for your love and care for her. I am thankful to have known her. I will always miss her.
