We were so saddened to hear that Father Joe passed away. Jim and he were ordained as deacons together in 1979. Fr. Joe kept in touch with us and we had a lunch date with him once a year. Always a very special time for us. He will be truly missed. May the Lord comfort all the family in this time of sorrow.

My dad, George Manning, was ordained to the diaconate with your dad. My mom has always spoke kindly about your father. And he always remembered her at Christmas time by sending her a card. She and our family offer our deepest condolences to you on the loss of your dad.

To the Family of Father Joseph Whittel:

My sincere sympathy to your families at the loss of your dear Father.
Father Whittel was a very special Priest who always took care of all the parishioners in his care.
As for myself he was there for me during the years we worked together at OLPH. He will always have a special place in my heart and in my daily prayers.

I had many interesting and informative conversations with Fr. Joe. I will miss those as I will miss him. A true priest, he was learned, reverent, and kind. St. Paul's was fortunate to have had his service.
