Jason Ryan Obituary

Jason Adam Ryan, 37 years young, passed away suddenly on November 13th 2017. He was born in Long Branch, New Jersey and spend his childhood growing up on the Connecticut Shoreline. Jason has always had a charisma about him that no one could touch. He walked to the beat of his own drum and would occasionally skip one or two just to keep things interesting. With a good soul and huge heart he made friends and family wherever he went. Always willing and able to help anyone in need. Jason leaves behind an enormous group of loving family and friends from across the country and overseas. There is no greater loss and his spirit will be held in the souls who loved him. He is and will forever be dearly missed by all he touched. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday November 26th 2017 from 4-8pm at Branford Elks Lodge 158 S Montowese St. Branford, CT. All welcome.

It's hard to believe that it's been 5 years but it's even harder to believe that you're no longer here. I wish that you were cuz I would have loved for my kids to meet such a cool and unique character. I think about you here and there Jason I know that you're looking down on us wherever you are and I hope that one day I get to see you again, peace brother!

Jay was the first person who truly accepted me for who and what I was. He opened me to new forms of art, music, and taught me how to make friends. In a world that, at the time, often crushed those who dared to be different, he was utterly uncompromising in his individuality. By being so he gave those of us who cared to observe him the quiet courage needed to both revolt internally, and to challenge life on our own terms.

I hope that the tree we both planted in the front yard near the edge of the driveway still grows. He said it was symbol of our friendship; fledgling and divergent, but nonetheless enduring and endowed with purpose.

Recently, I thought about Jay. I can only imagine that wherever he is, he was shining a glow stick in my metaphysical direction; probably from a killer DJ booth somewhere in the sky. In the work I do nowadays, we talk a lot about expression and authenticity. Oftentimes, it's speculation because it's so hard to truly just be our self; at least that's my experience, but I can honestly say, Jay, is on a list of very few people that truly were authentic. It was like watching a shooting star; so bright, so passionate, like I knew I was watching something I would only see a handful of times in my life. Even though we had our differences at times, Jay, I deeply respect your willingness to passionately engage with life and those around you. Peace brother.

Jay, I can't believe that you are gone. we shared so many good times at the day school in Clinton. we then reunited years later at a party. It was so good to know you then and so good to see you after! you will never be forgotten! You were one of my best friends and it saddens my heart so much to be writing this remembrance to you now, instead of seeing your face and goofing off like we always did! love you forever Jay! See you when I get there!

Jay,
I met you when I was 18; and everything about you fascinated me. You were more than just a people person' you had a soul that was unlike any other person I had ever met. Now I am 30 and I still have yet to meet anyone like you. You were so full of life, but even more so full of love. You were genuine, you were affectionate, and warm-hearted. You also were RELENTLESS you would make me listen to song after song after song from artists I never heard of and say just one more song, promise thousands of songs later; I realized you got me into some of my favorite music. You had a beautiful soul that EVERYONE wanted to be around; especially me. My heart is super heavy writing this because there's so much more I want to say but for now, watch over me angel. I feel a lot of guilt for not being able to see you much these past few years, but I wish I was able to hug you once more. I Love you always, and I still have your Alien Penny . ❤ -Erica

My condolences to you Tim. As you know your son and I were very close. He was a great kid and was becoming a great man. He was always there for me when no one else was, I tried to be there for him just the same. I don't think that I'll ever get the chance to meet somebody who was as genuine as Jay was. Though he got under my skin a couple of times he was always a wonderful friend. I'm still having trouble realizing that I'm never going to see the smirk on his face when he did something amazing or the peace sign he would throw up any time someone was leaving his presence. There are so many memories that I have of him, no matter if they were good or bad, they were all wonderful. God bless you and yours. I'm always around if you need anything.

Tim and Lauren I am so sorry for the loss of Jason. He truly did leave a special imprint with all that he met. I will never forget the times we had in high school, dragging my drums on a piece of plywood on casters the 1.5 miles down cow hill rd. to set up for 30 minutes of jamming in Tim's basement. We lost touch over the years, but any time we crossed paths it was like a day hadn't been missed. Rest in peace Jay, till we meet again
