Sister Lois Noon, S.N.D., 84, formerly of Conn., died Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center, Worcester. She was a resident of the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester. Sister was born in Providence, R.I., daughter of Vincent and Sarah (Croker) Noon. Sister graduated from St. Mary Academy of the Visitation in Providence in 1951 and entered the Sisters of Notre Dame. She was also known in her religious life as Sister Vincent Elizabeth. She graduated from Emmanuel College with a degree in Education and later earned a master's degree in Religious Education at Fairfield University. Sister was an educator in Notre Dame schools in New England for more than 25 years. She was a teacher in several Notre Dame schools in Rhode Island, Mass., and Conn. including many years as a teacher and principal at St. Gabriel School in Milford. She also taught at St. Mary School in Branford and St. Rose School in Newtown. Sister later worked in pastoral care in R.I. parishes and Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence, before retiring from ministry. She leaves a cousin and her sisters in religion, the Sisters of Notre Dame. Calling hours are Wednesday, November 29, starting at 1 p.m. with a prayer service at 2 p.m. at the Notre Dame du Lac Chapel, 555 Plantation St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial in Notre Dame du Lac Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame, 468 Poquonock Ave., Windsor, CT 06095.
