Torp was such a good friend. Janet you as well. He was so good to me and was always there if I needed someone to talk to. When I was going through really tough times, he was right there for me. I am so sad.

Dick Torpey was the best....always!
I was very lucky to have worked closely with him on the Ryan Team and as his evaluator when I was assistant principal at East Hartford Middle School. He was one of the most decent, fun-loving, sincere guys I have ever met. I enjoyed every second of knowing him and working with him. He kept us entertained during every team meeting and he always kept the kids in line with his big heart and sense of humor. Discipline issues with students were non-existent with Dick. He respected all of them and they respected him in return. I can still hear him singing The Flintstone's theme song in the hallway every morning.
He taught all of us that laughter is the best medicine. His passing is a great loss to those of us who have had the privilege of working with him.
Rest in peace, Dick, but raise some hell up in Heaven as I'm sure you will be doing!
I send my deepest sympathy to Janet and all of Dick's family.
