Stanford Inman Obituary

Stanford Ralph Inman, 91, of Simsbury, much loved husband of Beverley Hall Inman, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at John Dempsey Hospital. He was born March 12, 1925, son of the late Leverett and Editha Inman of Foxborough, MA. He is survived by his loving family, Derrith and Dennis Hurst of Galway, NY, Kathleen and Ronald Fox of Hampton, GA, Marianne Inman of Dover, NH and Mark and Debbie Inman of Cromwell; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Ann Jannene of Texas and Barbara Alberto of Massachusetts and three nieces. During World War II, Stan dropped out of high school to join the U.S. Marine Corps. After honorable discharge, he went on to graduate from Dean Academy and Bates College in Maine. Stan was employed for 25 years as a Laboratory Instrument Specialist at Hartford Hospital. After retirement, he volunteered at the hospital for many years on the same day admission unit, and was honored for achieving over 6,000 hours of service. As an avid reader, Stan would often be found with a book, or paper in his hand doing the daily crossword puzzle. This trait was passed on to all his children and still continues. One of his pursuits was art. He painted and framed lovely scenes of his particular favorite, the coast of Maine. Maine was always a subject close to his heart. He also spent much time and skill creating beautiful stained glass pieces which are still admired by many people. Stan was a very patient, loving and kind gentleman, always willing to help others. May he rest in peace. Our family would like to thank the many very special healthcare professionals for helping Stan along this journey over the last couple years. As he requested, there will be no services. In memory of Stan, if you so choose, donations may be made to the Simsbury Volunteer Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 301, Simsbury, CT 06070. The Vincent Funeral Home of Simsbury is caring for the arrangements.

I remember when Ann & I had scarlet fever and Stan would run through our room holding he is nose making us laugh. He never did get scarlet fever. I also remember the time he dared me to bite his nose and I did, he never asked again.

There are so many stories: taking me to Hoppy's on his bike to get candy, playing in the huge trees that went down during the hurricane, Stan taking me to his class reunion.

We all loved each other

Bev and family;
Mom and I are so sorry to hear of Uncle Stan's passing. My favorite memory of him is his laugh. He had a great laugh that just seemed to consume his body. It was laughter, pure and clear. Mom has told me great stories of her and Stan growing up in Mansfield, swimming and catching frogs so he could have frog's legs for a snack!

Love to all,
Ann, Susan and Al.

Dear Beverly and family,
We are very sorry for your loss. Those of us in the Volunteer Department at Hartford Hospital had the pleasure of knowing Stan. His dedication to the Hospital, the patients and staff was truly inspirational and appreciated. Stan arrived to volunteer between 4am and 4:30am to meet and greet the patients coming in for surgery and to assist the staff in preparation of their arrival. He did this once a week for 17 years and 6,000 hours so we usually got to chat with him AFTER his volunteer shift. He was down to earth and genuinely kind. We miss Stan and won't forget his generosity.

Mark, Kathy, MaryAnn, and Dari,
Sorry to hear of Dad's passing, he was a good guy when we were neighbors way back when. It sounds like he had a full life after London RD and that is all we can hope for. Prayers to all of you and your families.
