I met Steve when I was working at the Wadsworth. We used to commute together often from New Britain to Hartford. I just found out about his passing. He had the wickedest sense of humor & I will never forget his kindness to me while I was at the museum, 1989-1995. He was the life of the party & touched so many people's lives, including mine. Godspeed Steve.
My thoughts & prayers are with his husband & all of his family.

Harry and I enjoyed Steve's friendship for almost 40 Years - through the early years at the Bloomfield Fish Market, my years on staff at the Wadsworth and most memorably as guests at Steve and John's fabulous wedding reception. My encounters in past years with Steve were less frequent (when I visited the museum) - but always welcoming and poignant. I will miss him more than I can measure. What a man - what a joyous life well-lived. Our thoughts are with his beloved John and all the people who loved him. Susan and Harry Werner

So sad to hear of Steve passing. We always thought of Steve as a boisterous, loud and fun force of nature when he walked into a room. With an impeccable taste in music, when Steve said "Oh man,you need to listen to this band", it was bound to be exceptional. The world becomes a sadder place with his loss, as family and friends must deal with a little less of the love and friendship that was Steve. There is an old Irish saying, Death leaves a heartache no one can heal;Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

God Bless

My deepest condolences to John and to Steve's family. At the Atheneum, there is a HUGE emptiness which we will just have to fill as best we can, each in his own way. Steve's example will shine forever. Love life, and share it! Now and always. Thank you for a memorial service that truly comforted. Blessed are those who mourn.
