I was also privileged to have Tom as a professor, way back in the 1970s. We corresponded for a while after I married and moved away. I found some of his letters a few months ago as my husband and I were packing to move; wonderful, droll writing. I was working at establishing a writing career, and he was always encouraging and sympathetic.

I did have that career, ten years in television, then went on to become a high school English teacher. I'm retiring this year, and I hope my students will remember me as fondly as I do Tom.

I had Tom as a professor in the nineties; and he was one if my very favorites. Even as an older guy he just impressed with his youthful enthusiasm when he spoke about a new comic book or recalled a terrific memory. He once told me he was one if the first people in his college dorm to own a t.v. set.

I was lucky enough to see him around campus and the local coffee shop for years after taking his class. Seeing him was always a joy. He will be missed. Please accept my most sincere condolences.
