Graham was a great athlete, both on the local and world stage. However, his true worth was as a person. He loved life and maintained a network of friends across the world. He treated all his friends the same irrespective of their status. To Graham, they were all friends of equal worth. He was a man of high intelligence. He stayed true to his Ballarat origins. Humble, modest, self effacing, funny, he was always interested in others. He never spoke ill of others. He lived by the old adage that "if you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all."
Loved by so many around the world, no more so than by his German wife Elke. Graham and Elke had over 10 years together, a time of great happiness for both, in which time they renovated a beautiful home in Lengenfeld, Saxony, Germany, and also spent many happy times in Australia and traveling the world. They were a great team and loved one another to bits.
Rest In Peace, great man, we will miss your sparkling eyes, smile and conversation. Sorry that your beloved Cats could not win the big one this year but I know you will be looking down on them in 2020 with your astute observations on their form, with the refrain GO CATS. You have a special place in the hearts of many and will be so missed.

Gruffy is an absolute legend. He was an Olympian, an athletics champion and always gave his best in everything he did. Most importantly he genuinely cared about others and shared his good humor, infectious enthusiasm and cheeky engaging smile with everyone around him. Fond memories.
