There isn't anything I can add to what I wrote when Billy passed in 2017. I was so blessed to have him in my life then, and eventually Gillian, and then their boys. It's rather a different world now in 2023, but I'm still blessed as I can smile & feel the warmth of so many memories whenever I want. My love to Gillian, Billy and Michael and their families. Marcia

To Gillian, Billy Jr and Julia, Michael and Jennifer, Lukas, Lucy, Nathan and Nicholas, To be able to put into words what your husband, father, and grandfather brought to my life and my family's is so difficult because he was so special. Billy and I became best friends 57 years ago and we continued that friendship every day since. I bless Gillian every day for respecting and sharing the bond between Billy and I. Over the years Billy became my hero...time or distance was of no consequence. Through our various medical difficulties, we kept each other laughing, and I know he kept me sane. His advice helped keep me alive and gave me courage when I needed it most. He was the most giving, thoughtful, caring and courageous person I have ever known. He was truly remarkable in so many ways that words do not do justice to. To say we will all miss him deeply only accentuates how blessed we were to have had him in our lives. Thank you for simply being you, Billy, my friend.

My good friend, SCUBA partner, brother that I wish you were, I morn your passing deeply and have tears in my eyes knowing that we could not have seen each other more in life. Rest well in your Chapter Eternal and though we were not Brothers, I salute you as if you were: IN HOC SIGNO VINCES. We will meet again one day when my time is also up on this earth. Bless you always.

My deepest sympathies. May the God of all comfort strengthen the entire family during this time of sorrow. Keep in mind that God keeps in his memory those whom we lose because they are precious in his eyes. (Psalms 116:15)

What a sad loss for your family. I have fond memories of his wide knowledge and huge enthusiasm hor horse racing during a visit. We had such fun talking about an ill advised share I'd bought in a useless horse. I only wished I'd had his knowledge to draw on before purchase.
I also benefitted from his
kind and open hearted hospitality. A loss to all of us who met him.

This was a picture of my father a couple weeks before he passed. It was taken at Green Street Cafe, Coconut Grove celebrating Gail Baldwins birthday.
He was so happy that he was able to get out of the house and to a party. I think it made him feel young again.

It is with great sadness and tears that we announce that Bill passed away peacefully on September 8, 2017 at Doctors Hospital after an amazing life. Bill was born May 25, 1940 at Coral Gables Hospital to Maxine and Paul L. Kelley.
He is survived by his beloved wife Gillian, terrific sons Billy Jr. (Julia), Michael (Jennifer) and four grandchildren, Lukas and Lucy, Nicholas and Nathan who he loved dearly and delighted in their young lives. He was a proud father; his sons meant everything to him joining him in his love of the water.
Much of his early life was spent travelling with his parents to various states as his father owned, trained and raced thoroughbred horses, but he always returned to Coral Gables during the winter months. He attended Ponce de Leon Junior, Coral Gables High, Florida State University and University of Miami.
After graduation he travelled throughout Europe and came back to a job as 2nd Vice President in Public Relations/Business Development for the First National Bank of South Miami. He enjoyed being around the horses and trained alongside his father at tracks all over the country.
Billy loved the water Biscayne Bay was his joy. He was the owner of Coconut Grove Marina until it was taken in eminent domain by the City of Miami. Boating, scuba diving & fishing were all on his favorites' list. He reveled in trips to the Stiltsville house he built in 1969 where the family would spend weekends entertaining friends and their children He started the Kings Bay Sailing Club in the late 70's and was instrumental in refurbishing the Calusa Golf & Country Club around the same time.
He was a proud member of SAE while at the University of Miami. He also belonged to Ching Tang, the Bachelor's Club & Coral Reef Yacht Club among others.
Bill suffered some major medical setbacks during his lifetime, but always came out smiling and was beloved and admired for his strength by all who knew him. Life will not be the same without him in it.
