Though we only met one time I feel that I know a little about who you were from that meeting and the loveing tributes here left by your three wonderful children. I know you will be missed in their lives but I know they are strong people who will live life and honor you by remembering the values and integrity you instilled . To my dear friend I am so sorry for the loss of your dad but so glad you have such wonderful memories to hold on to .

Dad -
I am so very grateful for the extra time with you this year. Spending time with you at the theme parks, walking Amber around the block and picking up your new(er) truck. Riding home with you that day, and seeing the absolute glee and enjoyment on your face was priceless. You scared me with your driving, and revving the gas at stop lights, but looking back, I treasure every moment. We talked about your plans on that drive back to my house and the next step was to start searching for the right RV that would serve to fulfill your lifelong dream of traveling across the USA. There's a part of me that is mad that you didn't get to see that dream to the end, but a larger part of me is grateful that your efforts during the last year of your life were in pursuit of that dream. There was no long-term illness, or lying in a hospital bed for months - there was finding a truck that would pull the RV, and researching the places you'd visit. Your goal has become my goal and at some point in the near future, I will make sure those places get marked on your old-school Atlas, when I take a cross-country trip in your honor.
I love you, Dad - and I miss you.
Angie

Dear Dad,

We will be forever grateful for the beautiful gifts you gave to us: the parts of you that live on in your loving children and grandchildren, who - now and forever - honor your memory with this simple letter for the simple man that you are, were, and always will be. You instilled in us the strength to stand tall, even on days like this, when our legs are weak and our hearts weary from the pain of missing you. You showed us the very meaning of selflessness, working through the seemingly-endless days and nights; living on the barest essentials; and giving up whatever you had to ensure your children never needed or wanted for anything. Even when the truth hurt, you were always honest with us, embedding in your sons and daughter the roots of truthfulness, integrity, and accountability for our actions. Through the good times and the bad, you carried yourself honorably, always remembering how closely we watched you our beloved hero, role, model, and caring father hoping that if we could only be half the man you were, perhaps others would love and respect us the way that we loved and respected you.

And now, on this day of reckoning, we treasure your memory, holding you ever so closely to our hearts and minds. We will never forget you, Dad, and we will always remember that our greatest gifts are the pieces of you that live on in us.
Always and forever,
Angie, Adam, and Brian
