In 1986,i had the privledge to see Mr.Roth's last whale show. Every time we went to the Seaquarium and Mr.Roth was working with the whale we were amazed of the water works he would perform especially the "swan ride". Till this day , he is the Best I've ever seen. R.I.P.

Twenty-five years ago in the Bahamas, the man taught me how to catch fish with nets while scuba diving on NEAq collecting trips(2). He would remove his regulator and talk to us as we corralled a school of fish into our nets. We could hear and understand every word he said as he directed us. And we got the fish. Thanx Lou, you'll never be forgotten by many you taught like me.

Thank you Captain Lou for your kindness, patience, and compassion during many trips to the Bahamas. You always transported us safely from location to location and helped me so much during my dissertation research. I have so many wonderful memories onboard the R/V Coral Reef II with Captain Lou that I will forever cherish.

For nearly twenty years I spent a couple of weeks each year with Captain Lou on the Coral Reef. I enjoyed every day I spent with him in the Bahamas. His gentle and kind personality made me and everybody of our groups feel welcome and at home. Lou would steer the Coral Reef between reefs and across skinny waters without any problems and dock us safely in the evening. Chatting with him on the bridge while going from place to place was priceless. I will always cherish these moments and I will deeply miss him.
