I knew Paul from the USMC reserve unit in Miami. I joined when it was a 105mm howitzer battalion. It later was tasked as 4th ANGLICO. Paul was the communication Sargent that I worked very closely with for 8 yrs 1959 - 1967. A real Marine always and a true mentor to many. Semper Fi shipmate and I will see you again at the Last Muster.

Very unique and funny man. I have great memories of him when he was building our houses in Bimini and when we stayed at his place. Great lost. My condolences to Pauline, Kenny, and the whole family.

A very unique individual who combined a quirky personality but a real gentleman. A marine in service to America. A Bahamian in his dna .A pilot who traveled to his Bimini retreat. He will be missed, they dont make them like him anymore.

Sadly dealing with the news of the passing of my dear friend Paul Chestnut! Paul was one of the most resourceful men that I have ever known. He would do anything to help. He had a great joke for every occasion, and a very proud retired Marine. He told me the story about how he joined the Marines. As a 17 year old recent arrival from the Bahamas he was standing in the check out line of the old Shells City next to a Marine Sargent. He looked up at him and was blown away be the regalia of the Marines uniform. He looked like an emperor to Paul. With great admiration Paul asked this Marine what he was and was told that he was a Marine Sargent and recruiter. Paul asked if he could be recruited and the Sargent told Paul to come by his office after he left Shells City. Despite Paul being too short and too young the Sargent made it happen. This began Pauls life long love of the United States and the US Marine Corp. Paul maintained dual citizenship the rest of his life.

Paul and his wife Sue maintained dual residency in Bimini and Miami. They were the gracious hosts to me and my familles many visits to their home on South Bimini. He was a great fisherman, diver, story teller and human being! Paul will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him! Mission complete with honors Marine!
