I have been friends with Phyllis since we were kids growing up in the 1950's and 1960's and went to Morley Elementary, Plant Jr. High and Hall High School with her.
After she moved to Florida, my wife Connie and I would meet up with her each winter when we visited my in-laws in Ft. Lauderdale. We always looked forward to seeing Phyllis: she introduced us to the beauty of Fairchild Gardens, took us to out-of-the way restaurants we would never have found on our own (including my first and last interaction with an ostrich-burger), regaled us with tales of her new-found love of mountain climbing, inspired us with her environmental passion and raged over the the destruction of the fragile South Florida water tables and ecosystem due to unfettered development. Phyllis was a rare combination of brilliance, beauty, courage, compassion and loyalty. We were so happy to learn of her marriage to Partha and so sad to hear of her way-too-soon passing. Our hearts go out to Ruth, Joan and their families and to Partha and his family for the light that has gone out both in their lives and in ours.

Oh, no. I am stunned and so sorry to read this terrible news. My condolences to Phyllis's husband and family.

So heartbroken over this news. Phyllis was a mentor to so many in the PR community, including me. I will always recall her grace under pressure, her wise sophisticated counsel and sharp intuition. I had the opportunity to speak with her a few times throughout the year regarding some philanthropic work she was doing and she sounded quite content. She truly will be missed.

Phyllis gave me my first job in public relations some 40 years ago when she was president of Hank Meyer Associates in Miami. I wise, caring, insightful person to whom I owe a great deal. RIP, Phyllis.

Phyllis mentored me at Hank Meyer Associates and taught me so much about going the extra mile and maintaining one's core ethical values while developing stories for clients...not easy in the practice of public relations. She had a soft side, and I enjoyed her company occasionally after I left Hank Meyer Associates and later, when she was at Fairchild. I'm so glad to read she found her soul mate. She will be missed. Too early to go. RIP.

I worked with Phyllis at Fairchild Garden many years ago. It was a distinct pleasure to have known such an intelligent and caring person. I think of her often and it always brings a smile to my face.
