Wilfredo Blanco, beloved husband of 53 years to Alina; loving father to Wilfredo Jr. (Mayra), Alina (Brian), Pedro (Marta), and Lilly (Rebeca); cherished grandfather to David, Adrián, Michelle, Andrés, Julian, Lucas, Matias, and Gabriel; and respected friend and mentor to many, passed away peacefully on Nov 28, 2017 surrounded by family. Born Dec 7, 1942 in Güines, la Habana, Cuba, Wilfredo was a published author and accomplished fine artist who worked across numerous mediums. He was exiled from Cuba in 1961, arriving in New York City and later settling in Miami, Florida where he established his permanent residence. A self-made entrepreneur, he was recognized for his successful Spanish-language publications including Mercado Hispano, MiCasa, Mercado del Disco, entérese, and Cocina al Día. He was known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and unending optimism. Wilfredo will be dearly missed. Private services and burial. Kindly direct donations in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
