LUELLA - "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Glenn William Davis departed this life for the place he had prepared to go for 64 years on December 26, 2017 at the age of 90 years. He passed naturally in his home of 28 years in Luella, Texas. He was born in Mulberry, Arkansas on January 22, 1927 and was one of eight children born to William Stanford and Mary Davis. He lived most of his life near Nicut, Oklahoma. Glenn entered the Army in 1945 and served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1952. On July 4, 1953, he married Wilda Jane Grimsley, the woman he chose to be mother to his three children. They were married 55 years, until Jane passed on February 3, 2009. Glenn was a faithful member of Western Heights church of Christ in Sherman, Texas and the church of Christ in New Iberia, Louisiana, where he lived for 36 years. While in New Iberia, he served the church as an Elder, on the leadership committee, and taught Bible classes. Before he retired in May 1989 and moved to Luella, he was employed as a welder for 36 years by United Carbon Company, which was later purchased by Ashland Chemical Company.
Glenn is survived by his sister, Erma and her husband Bob Morrison of Joplin, Missouri, his daughter, Glenda Diane and her husband Larry Watson of Luella, his son, James Dale and his wife Becky of Richmond, Virginia, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Glenn is predeceased by his wife, his son, Philip William, six siblings and his Cocker Span-iel/Dachshund, Buddy. There are no services planned at this time. The family wishes to thank Dr. Diego Rest-repo, Home Hospice of Grayson County and especially our loving nurses, Betty, Clara and Kathy, our special attendants, Rachel, Sharon and Ariana.
