Alice "Jane" Vanderbilt Toy, 75, died peacefully at the Brian Center Southpoint on August 10, 2017. Jane is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Renee' Wheeler Ellis & Chris Ellis, of Hillsborough; grandsons, Darren & Landon Wheeler of Hillsborough; brother, Clayton Vanderbilt of Sparta; niece, Dolly D. Devlin; nephew, Will Davis; & Dolly's 3 daughters, all of Durham. She is preceded in death by her parents Bill "Doc" and Dorothy "Dot" Vanderbilt; her twin sister, Jean Vanderbilt Davis; and ex-husband, Kenneth Wayne Toy. Born May 8, 1942, in Durham, NC, the oldest of 3 children. She graduated from Durham High School in 1961. Prior to retirement, she worked as a medical audio typist at Duke University Hospital. One of her greatest joys was raising her daughter, Renee', and helping care for her grandsons during their early years. She was so proud of her grandsons, always delighted to talk with them and celebrate their successes.
