On behalf of the residents and staff of The Village at Incarnate Word, I would like to express our deepest sympathy to Ann and their children and grandchildren. Carl had so many friends here, some of whom, no doubt, greeted him at the pearly gates. It was our privilege to have him as a member of our community. His stories livened many meals and we are grateful for his beautiful artworks. May he enjoy God's presence as intensely as he enjoyed this life! And may God grant all who loved him peace and consolation.

Susan, my sincerest condolences to you and your family. I have fond memories of your Daddy pretending to be waiting up for us when we had missed curfew, when really he had been asleep the whole time. Give my best to your Mama. I love you, Clara

Dear Mengden Family,
I remember with fondness that Carl would drive Pati and me to the ranch during the summers of the early 1960's. It was always so much fun for us to be with him and Ann and the children. It didn't hurt that there were some cute boys working there.
Carl always made the long car ride to Comfort, TX seem enjoyable by challenging us with riddles, word games, and lengthy stories at which he was amazingly gifted. He taught us to slow dance, gave us dating advice, accepted us as equals and convinced us he actually enjoyed our companionship.
What a loss for his darling family, his community and long-time friends.

Losing a loved one is never easy, but our loving god promises to give the strength and courage you'll need to endure, and to cope with the pain of your loss. He also promises to hold your hand every step of the way. (Isaiah 40:29, 41:10, 13)
