Ira was my Assistant Editor in Chief of the Law Review at the South Texas College of Law Houston and we became good friends. After graduation, we went our separate ways, he as a prosecutor in Harris County, and I into private practice. Over time, he convinced me to join the Harris County District Attorney office. I did and had a great time thanks to Ira. Although I left to become a Law Professor, he stayed for many years as a gifted prosecutor. From time to time we had lunch and talked about our lives. Sadly, as is too often the case, we lost touch with each other. I learned of his death when I went to the state bar of Texas website to get his present address so we could get together after so many years. His obituary was wonderful and very interesting. It was so good to see notes from former students at Reagan High School. Ira was a truly great person and friend. I will always miss him and wish I had kept in touch. Now its too late. Lesson learned. My condolences to his daughter, sister, and many friends. Byron Davis, Professor Emeritus, South Texas College of Law Houston.

Mr. Jones was my homeroom teacher at Reagan. He was as dedicated a teacher as he was a prosecutor. I remember seeing him and his mother at Wyatts Cafeteria on N. Shepherd in the early 70s. He always spoke to me when we were dining at the same time. He was one of the kindest men you would ever meet. RIP, Mr. Jones.
