Christopherson, Edward "Ed"
Edward "Ed" Christopherson, age 64, Stevens Point, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Wausau Aspirus Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Celebration of Life Service for Ed will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday July 18, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point. Visitation will be held Monday at the church from noon until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Ed's name be made to the Ronald McDonald House, Northern Gateway Chorus or Monteverdi Master Chorale.
Ed was born October 19, 1951 in Manitowoc, the son of Oliver and Ruth (Brodtke) Christopherson. He grew up in Valders working the family dairy farm and graduated from Valders High School in 1969.
He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1974. While at UW-Stevens Point, he also had the good fortune of meeting his future wife, Marilyn.
Upon graduating, Ed began his career at Sentry Insurance as an underwriter and worked there until 1977, when he found his career passion with McDonald's, where he received numerous management and store awards and recognition.
Ed's work ethic and drive guided him in delivering on the principles of quality, service, cleanliness and value to the many customers who became friends over the years. He later accepted the position of Director of Operations with Rause Management in which he oversaw the day-to-day management of McDonald's stores in Plover, Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids.
In 1997, he realized a professional dream when he became the proud owner/operator of the McDonald's in Mosinee until his retirement in 2014.
Ed enjoyed golfing, music, gardening and belonging to the Northern Gateway Chorus and the Monteverdi Master Chorale. He was an avid fan of all Wisconsin sports and treasured the many trips to Lambeau Field to cheer on his beloved Packers. He was also a doting grandfather who loved supporting his grandson's sporting events and making them laugh with his goofy jokes, sense of humor and funny commentary during family ladder ball tournaments.
He was a past member of the Stevens Point Elks Club and cherished his family time at their Door County vacation home.
Ed will be deeply missed by his wife of 44 years, Marilyn, and their son Brett (Kris) Christopherson, Little Chute, grandsons, Ryan and Connor, his mother Ruth Christopherson, Valders, brothers Ken (Monica), Middleton; Elton (Cathy), Manitowoc; Casey (Diane), Waukesha, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and his daughter Bethany.
You'll always be "just a thought away." We love you, Grandpa E.

Marilyn and Brett, we have lost a very close friend, husband and father. Ed was a Man close to my heart, I worked close with him for many years, after that I stopped at Mosinee and if he wasn't there I would stop on my way home, he always found time to come out and sit and talk old times. He was a very special person to many. hugs and Smypathy to all.

Dear Marilyn and family,
My heart is heavy as I try to wrap my head around the concept that Ed is gone. He was a lifelong friend of mine being brought together at the age of three in Valders, Wisconsin where we went to school, church and social events together. He was a terrific guy and he will, no doubt, be deeply missed. I know he has joined the choir of angels and has already volunteered to do whatever he can to make the choir the best. I join with others to ask God to take good care of him until we can all join that choir. By that time Ed may even be the director. Rest in peace, good friend.
