Oswald, Kathryn L.
Kathryn L. Oswald, age 86, a Manitowoc resident, died Sunday evening, January 27, 2013 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 16, 1926 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late John and Mary (Schuler) Stiefvater. Kathryn was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1944. On July 10, 1948 she married Edward D. Oswald at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Kathryn was employed as a secretary at Ames Motors before taking time to raise her family. She loved gardening, especially her African Violets. Kathryn was a member of the Red Hatters and also volunteered at Holy Family Hospital for 25 years. She also enjoyed her dominos club and counted cross stitch. Kathryn and Edward enjoyed traveling around the world and also their special vacation spot in Eagle River.
Survivors include her husband: Edward, Manitowoc; six children and their spouses: Alan & Diane Oswald, Manitowoc, Steven & Nan Oswald, Manitowoc, Randy & Cheri Oswald, Green Bay, Eddie John & Nancy Oswald, Appleton, Anne & Scott Huebner, Port Washington, John & Julie Oswald, Germantown; nineteen grandchildren: Sara (John) Pirnstill, Andrea (Jeff) Yentz, Christopher (Jill) Oswald, Nicholas (Irina) Oswald, Kelsey Oswald, Sean-Patrick Oswald, Carey (Shannon) Traska, Kendra (Don) Pemrich, Jamie (Cassidy) McGowan, Abby (Nick) Risic, Kole Oswald, Kallie (Erik) Dier, Drew Oswald, Alec, Jake, Matthew & Joseph Huebner, Samantha Oswald, Jack Oswald; 10 great grandchildren: Zach Pirnstill, Landon Oswald, Lexi, Kayleigh and Lily Traska, Brenna & Lincoln Pemrich, Colin & Sean McGowan, Tessa Kate Risic; and a sister: Esther Kimmes, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers-in-law: Marie & Matt Wier, Dorothy & Joe Benzschawel, Hallie & Clarence Strodthoff, Harvey Kimmes; and two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law: Wencil & Gertrude Oswald and George Oswald.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013. A prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7:00 p.m. led by Deacon Bob Beehner. Friends may also call Thursday morning at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, especially Bridget, Dr. Govier & the nurses at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, especially Tom in the Critical Care Unit for the loving care and compassion shown to Kathryn and her family.

For the past twenty some years I have been doing Kathryn hair. I have listened to her talk about the love that she has for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I will miss her. My deepest sympathy to Ed and the rest of her family.
