Sheehy, Robert J.
Robert J. Sheehy, age 90, a longtime Reedsville resident, died peacefully Monday night, April 3, 2017 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Bob was born in the Town of Franklin on October 22, 1926 to the late John and Frances (Kunesh) Sheehy. He attended St. Patrick's Catholic Grade School in Maple Grove and graduated from Reedsville High School in 1945. He then entered the U.S. Army, serving from 1945-1947 with the military police in Italy during World War II. On May 24, 1952, he married Alice Barns at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. The couple would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on May 24th.
After returning home from service, Bob served his apprenticeship at the Reedsville Sheet Metal Shop, and later became a Union Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker working with various companies throughout Northeast Wisconsin until his retirement in 1988. Bob and Alice enjoyed many years of travel, which included Ireland, Hawaii, Arizona and Florida; they also enjoyed camping with their family and friends. Bob was very proud of having built two homes in Maple Grove and Reedsville, and the family cottage up north. He was also a very huge sports fan who loved watching the Brewers & Packers; he enjoyed fishing and deer hunting; and was one of the founding members of the Reed-Way Sportsman's Club. Bob was a member of the Reedsville AMVETS and American Legion; Friends of St. Patrick's; and the Reedsville Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Sheehy; six children: Greg and Debbie Sheehy of Maple Grove, Br.Tom Sheehy of Tennessee, Joe Sheehy, Mike Sheehy of Reedsville, Mary Geigel of Manitowoc, and Patrick Sheehy of Branch; five grandchildren: Jessica Sheehy & special friend, Dave, Christopher Sheehy, Jennifer Sheehy, Ryan (Krystal) Sheehy, Kayla Sheehy; and one great granddaughter, Bryar Rose. He is further survived by three sisters-in-law, Joanne, Joan, and Darlene Sheehy, all of Reedsville; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister & brother-in-law, Eileen (Charles) Bernier; three brothers: Alfred, Harold, and Patrick Sheehy; and a sister-in-law, Mary Claire (Justin) Mullins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Holy Family Parish, 1100 W. Ryan Street, Brillion. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Timothy Brandt, with burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Maple Grove. Military graveside rites will be accorded by members of AMVETS Post #1032 and American Legion Post #199 of Reedsville.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Parish in Brillion, after 9:00 a.m. Friday until the time of mass at 11:00 a.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.
