We are sorry to hear about Scott, he was a credit to his department and helpful to the citizens of Manitowoc. This will be a tremendous loss to his family and friends.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Scott Leist. Last night I read his obituary in the HTR and realized that this was the officer I met in 2003 when my neighbor passed away in his home and I found him there. The officer arriving to take care of the situation was Scott, on his police motorcycle. He stayed with us as we experienced a very difficult time emotionally with police, coroner and funeral service personnel. We had never been through an experience like this and Scott was calm, caring and a source of strength for us. I will never forget his kind way and his care. This morning I read his blog online and was so saddened to see what he and his wife and family have endured for these past years. His attitude and outlook through his illness was inspirational. I am happy for him now that he has found peace. I am so sorry and sad for his family for their great loss. Peace be to all of you now. Scott touched my personal life only once, but left a great, positive impression with me for the rest of mine.
