Sponholtz, Florence S.
Florence S. Sponholtz, age 89, a Two Rivers resident and former Tisch Mills resident, entered into eternal life, Thursday July 6, 2017 at the Manitowoc Health Care Center. Florence was born May 12, 1928 in White Lake, WI to the late John and Susan Stark Alft and has been a longtime area resident. She married Donald R. "Donnie" Sponholtz, June 6, 1953 and he preceded her in death May 29, 2017. Before the time of Day Care, Florence cared for many local youngsters. When her sight was fully restored by two cornea transplants she worked for the post office in Tisch Mills. She was a faithful member of St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church in Tisch Mills where she was a member of the Rosary Society holding various offices including kitchen chairperson. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxilliary. Florence enjoyed playing cards and spending many years of retirement in Titusville, FL.
Survivors include her children: Motor, Michael (Jan), Theresa, Peter, John (Michelle) her grandchildren: Kelli (Jim), Mikayla, Noah, and Anthony. She is further survived by two sisters-in-law: Doris Beals and Dolly Sponholtz, and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Irene, Jack, Eileen, Hazel, Ethel, Blanche, Dorothy, Margie, James and Virginia, and by two brothers-in-law: William and Gilbert. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church in Tisch Mills with Reverend Tony Birdsell officiating, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the church, until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening visitation. Florence's family would like to extend a very special thank you for the wonderful care she received at the Manitowoc Health Care Center, you are the best!! We would like to also express appreciation to Fr. Dennis Drury, Fr. David Pleier and Pastoral Minister Christal Wavrunek. Your kindness will always be remembered. The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting with funeral arrangements.
