Shane Duvall Obituary

Duvall, Shane "Shaner" Joseph

Only the Master Weaver knows when the tapestry is finished.

Shane Joseph Duvall of 5053 Expo Drive, Manitowoc, Wisconsin was born to Michael R. Duvall and the late Cheryl A. Spaeth Duvall on December 6, 1971 and entered the arms of Jesus on December 10, 2016 at the age of 45.

It was a long and devastating battle with dementia that eventually took his life. He was also a cancer survivor.

Shane graduated from Riverview School in May of 1996 and was immediately employed at the Holiday House till October of 2011. The Holiday House was a very important part of his life and he made a lot of friends at work. He loved the dances that were held there and was never shy getting on the dance floor.

Shortly after leaving the Holiday House, Shane joined the TLC Pathways Unlimited program. This gave him the opportunity to stay active and make new friends. A warm thank you goes out to the Lakeshore United Methodist Church for opening their doors and providing the space needed.

Shane loved to follow and participate in sports. He rarely missed a Packer or Badger game and loved to wear their colors. For years, he was a member of the Wisconsin Special Olympics of Manitowoc County. Track was where he excelled, earning 5 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze medals at the State Games during his career. Shane also participated in T-ball and was very good at bowling. He would bowl several times a month and loved the competition. He would also ride his bike to local parks in Manitowoc and watch the ball games during the summer. He also helped his dad ring bells for the Salvation Army and greet at Hope Community Church. Each summer Shane would attend Camp TaPaWingo for a week. It was an event that he never missed and enjoyed the most.

Shane did have a hero in his life. It was his younger brother Jason who meant the world to him. Shane celebrated at his brother's wedding, often saying that it was the best night of his life. Jason owns a race car and Shane thought that was so cool. His brother gave him rides in it. He loved his brother very much and talked about him often.

Shane made a lot of friends in his life through work and sports. He was a pleasure to be around and had a great sense of humor. Shane loved to socialize. Striking up a conversation with everyone he met. In short, Shane loved to be with his family and friends. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his Shane's father Michael Robert Duvall and step mother Toni Duvall of Branch, one brother Jason and (Alanna) Duvall, two nieces Emily and Olivia, and a nephew Michael Duvall, all of Two Rivers, one sister Angela Duvall and her special friend Adam, both of Davenport IA, one step brother: Shawn Bloch, uncle Russell Duvall of Two Rivers, aunt Mary (Duvall) Debauche with special friend Scott, both of New Holstein, aunt Joanne (Speath) Goodman of Manitowoc, uncle Robert and aunt Leal Spaeth of Nebraska, aunt Carol (Speath) Pick and special family members, Marty and Tammy Vogel of Delafield, WI and their children Luke, Sam and Clare. Shane is also survived by his many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his birth mother Cheryl Ann (Spaeth) Duvall of Manitowoc, uncle Thomas Duvall of Two Rivers, uncle Gerald and Aunt Sandra Speath of Mishicot, both paternal grandparent Francis (Babe) and Verna Duvall of Two Rivers, both maternal grandparents Joseph and Catherine Spaeth of Manitowoc. All of them are rejoicing with our Lord Jesus Christ.

There will be a celebration of Shane's life at Hope Community Church, 4408 County Trunk B, Manitowoc WI, on Wednesday December 28, 2016. The family will greet friends starting at 2 p.m. till 5 p.m. with a memorial service to follow presided over by Pastor Andy Shanholtz and guest speaker Pastor DeWayne Hanke Chaplin from Compassus Hospice. Cremation has taken place earlier and Shane will be buried at Knollwood Cemetery.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Shane was loved and cared for by so many people throughout his life. His family gives a heart full of thanks and gratitude to all those involved: Doctors Karl Larson, Glenn Smith, Alan Sbar and Tracy Sherman; the entire past and present staff of TLC Homes of Sheboygan, especially the caring and loving staff at the Expo House; all of whom were the closest to him and took such good care of Shane; the excellent care given by Compassus Hospice of Sheboygan, the staff of TLC Path Ways program who gave Shane a new sense of purpose the entire staff of the Holiday House who gave Shane a sense of worth, the coaches and staff of Manitowoc County Miracles and the Wisconsin Special Olympics that helped Shane reach his full potential; Andy Harrigan of Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, and Pastor Andy Shanholtz of Hope Community Church.

Dear Mike and Toni, I had the pleasure of caring for Shane from the time he came to live at Expo until his passing, He has been sadly missed by all of us, I still find myself looking towards his room as I am making the bed across the hall from his room. He always found a way to make us smile and I called him Shaner my little mocking bird and he would laugh and laugh. He is no longer suffering and The Lord decided to bring him home to share eternal life in Heaven with him. I will always carry his smile in my heart.

To the family of Shane. I had the privilege to be a part of Shane's life at Holiday House. He was one of my favorite people to be with. I had no idea at the time I cared for him, but his mom Cheryl was my best friend in 4th grade, so I am honored to have cared for her son. He was a delight and very special guy. God's peace and comfort you all.

What a beautiful tribute to Shane! We have very wonderful and fond memories of Shane, as he joined in at Ted's Halloween parties, at Camp TaPaWingo and simply visits to the Zeman home! Ted is always missed him!
