Arda Alberta Abbott
1933-2018
Arda Alberta Abbott passed from this earthly life July 6, 2018, in Boise, Idaho. Daughter of Myron and Verda Stewart Hudson, Arda was born August 23, 1933 in Pocatello, Idaho. After the divorce of her parents, Arda, her brother Myron, and her mother moved to Blackfoot, Idaho.
Arda married Guy Lyons September 5, 1950. This union produced 1 daughter and 6 sons but ended in divorce in 1967.
While living in Ogden, Utah Arda met and married Chet Abbott July 1, 1968. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple August 1, 1968. Chet, Arda, and her seven children then moved to Longmont, Colorado. Chet's five children remained with their mother in Springville, Utah.
While in Colorado, Arda worked for the US Government Bureau of Standards as a secretary, Chet was employed by IBM.
During their forty-eight years, together Chet's job with IBM brought moves to Arizona and California. After retiring from IBM, they lived in Boise, Idaho for ten years and then returned to California where they became Temple Workers in the San Diego LDS Temple, something they were very dedicated to this calling until Chet's health began failing in 2016. They moved to St. George, Utah in August 2016. After Chet's death December 25, 2016 and subsequent burial in Boise, Arda moved to Boise to be close to her husband.
Arda and Chet loved to travel. They went on numerous cruises, loved to spend time in Hawaii, and spent many, many, many hours on road trips visiting children and grandchildren. Arda was a great artist, did several paintings in oil and spent her final years doing beautiful work in her adult coloring books.
Surviving Arda are 10 children, her brother and sister-in-law Myron and Shirley Hudson and to many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to try to name without forgetting someone.
Preceding her in death: her parents; her husband, Chester D. Abbott, son; Kenny Abbott, and daughter, Linda Abbott.
Our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Grace Assisted Living and the amazing people at Adobe Hospice for the care they gave to Arda.
