Soar High Duane...
June 10, 2017
I moved to CdA during my sophomore year of high school and remained for my junior year. I met Duane as we both played basketball. Duane was an athletic freak and he could be very intense. But he was also a very caring person. I really admired Duane and had a huge amount of respect for him. Even though I moved back to Spokane following my junior year, Duane arranged for me to get a scholarship to Northwest Basketball Camp and that experience was critical for me getting my hoops game back on track (too much partying in CdA). Duane's generosity and his great laugh and smile are still fresh in mind- even 40 years later. That's a lasting impression and I'm confident Duane left a postive impression on thousands of people during his 56 years on this planet.
I remember an article in the CdA Press with a headline: Dlouhy Plays For Christ. Duane was unashamed of his faith but welcoming to all. That too is a wonderful trait.
Though I've never met Duane's wife, his kids or grandkids, I want to echo the sentiments of others about what a great guy Lou was.
May he Rest In Peace.

~ Feelings of deep sadness at Duane's passing - I knew him as one of the wonderful CdA Class of '78 - along with our daughter, Randelle,(passed in 2008) her husband, Mike Parker and many others. I pray for comfort and strength for his wife and all his dear family. God rest you, Duane <3

Even though Duane was a few years younger than me, my family grew up with his family at Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d'Alene. It's good to hear he became a strong football player, friends to many, built strong relationships and has a beautiful family of his own. My prayers go out to the Dlouhy's and I wish I could be there for the service, but my heart and thoughts are with you.
