Michael Whitham Obituary

Michael "Mike" Whitham
1954 - 2017
Michael "Mike" Whitham, 62, of Meridian passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 15, 2017.
Mike was born October 16, 1954 in St. Johns Newfoundland, Canada to his parents Roy L. "Whit" and Betty (Personett) Whitham. Mike was very proud of his parents' service in the armed forces, as a child he lived all over the United States, including a short stint in Guam. A very memorable moment in Mike's childhood was a 30-day road trip in the family station wagon, The Whitham family visited every state in the continental US. Eventually the family relocated to Nampa, Idaho where Mike attended Nampa High School and graduated in 1972. Upon graduating from high school Mike joined the United States Marine Corps, Semper Fi. Mike was extremely proud of his time served in the military and a lifelong supporter of the Armed Forces. After leaving the Marine Corps he returned to Nampa where he met and married his wife Cathy (Lively) Whitham. Mike and Cathy settled in Nampa where they raised two children until her death from breast cancer in 2005.
In 2008 Mike met and married Anna Coy of Meridian. Mike and Anna lived and worked in the Treasure Valley but loved to escape to their getaway in Cascade. When they weren't spending time with their family they were at their cabin on the West Mountain, fishing on Lake Cascade, riding ATVs and snowmobiles, hanging out at the campfire or watching movies in their pajamas.
As a young man Mike enjoyed many different activities, he considered himself a mighty fine bull rider, played the French horn in the school band and was an active member of his community. His love for horses took him and his wife Cathy all over Idaho and the PNW, where they were members of the Southwest Idaho Trail and Distance Riders for many years. As his children grew older his priorities changed and he spent most of his weekends walking golf courses or hauling props for dance routines all over southern Idaho.
Mike's family and friends where the light of his life, he never went a day without boasting about his 6 grandkids or the latest new gadget he found to play with. He was a kind and wonderful man who will truly be missed.
Mike is proceeded in death by his father, Roy Whitham and his wife Cathy Whitham, both of Nampa.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Whitham of Nampa, wife Anna Coy of Meridian, his children Heather (Brodie) Graham of Nampa, Stephanie Hughes, of Meridian, Cody Whitham of Oregon, Caity (Chris) Keith of Meridian and Nathan Delk of Meridian. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth(Daniza) Whitham of Pocatello, sisters DaleAnn and Deborah and many nieces and nephews.
The pride and joy of Mike's life where his six grandchildren; granddaughters: Hailee, Reagan, Madison, Avery and Piper Graham all of Nampa and grandson Spencer Hughes of Meridian.
A celebration of life will be held at Ste. Chapelle Winery, 19348 Lowell Road, Caldwell. Open house from 1-4, with a memorial starting at 2pm, on Saturday, January 21, 2017.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Mike's name to the Wounded Warrior Project.

We bought our cabin at cascade because of wanting to be close to Mike and my sister. My best times with Mike were on the lake fishing in the boat.We would fish and drink for hours and never catch anything but a buss.Mike would talk about simple things and his family that he was very proud of.Cascade will not be the same without Mike

Mike I will always cherish the adventures we had. The best was being lost for hours in the fog on Cascade Lake while ice fishing. Even a few weeks ago when you tried to ski behind Nathans truck in the snow. Life will not be the same without you. I will truly missed the talks and you laugh. Thank you for for the lasting memories. We love you.

I am going to miss the time we shared together you may have not known but you taught me so much on how to be a father and a man. I thank you for all the time we spent together building something so simple as a deck but i will never forget that time together. You were awesome and amazing I looked up to you for everything. I will always remember the time that you Nathan and I all hung out at the cabin and had moonshine for the first time that was a special moment we shared together. I remember how hard you laughed when I took that shot. Damn I am going to miss you but i will cherish the time we did have together. Thank you for all that you did for us as a family and thank you for always being there you will be truly missed. I love you and I will see you again.
