Violet Belle Jenkins
September 4, 1927 – February 28, 2017
Violet Belle Whalen Jenkins passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Boise, Idaho. She was born on September 4, 1927 at home on Glass Street in Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee to William Harrison and Martha Alice Manning Whalen.
Mrs. Jenkins married her high school sweetheart, Benny Joe Jenkins, on December 25, 1947 in Rossville, Georgia. Because her husband was in the Navy, the family lived all over the United States, but in 1965 California became Mrs. Jenkins' home until she moved to Boise in 1994.
She was a loving and faithful wife, a loving and nurturing mother and a devoted grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her children thank her for always loving and caring for them.
She never lost her Southern drawl or her good sense of humor. She loved singing, dancing and hugging those around her. She was kind, considerate and adored by family, friends and neighbors alike.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her daughter-in-law, her parents and her eight siblings (three brothers and five sisters of whom only two survived to adulthood).
Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her 4 children: Rex (and Ursula) Jenkins of Emden, Germany, Martha Jenkins of Boise, ID, Karen (and Glenn) Green of Huntington Beach, CA and Terry Jenkins of Boise, ID; 6 grandchildren: Julian (and Kristin) Jenkins of Boise, ID, Rick Reinert of Santa Ana, CA, Gwendolen Jenkins of Celle, Germany, Sian (and Simon) Waddington of Bromley, England, Christian Green of Huntington Beach, CA and Daniel (and Jessica) Oliver of Boise, ID;
5 great-grandchildren (with another one due in April 2017) and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In accordance with Mrs. Jenkins' wishes, no visitations or services are planned. Burial will be at a later date in the family cemetery: Hensley Cemetery, Hixson, Tennessee.
