Bonnie Jean Hill
1933 ~ 2017
Bonnie J. Hill, 84, beloved wife and mother was called home to her loving God on March 16, 2017. Born in Minnesota, she was one of nine children; the first girl after five boys. As mom's helper she became an excellent cook and seamstress. Most of her childhood was spent in Missouri where she was active in 4-H, cheerleading, basketball and local plays.
After graduating, she worked in Kansas City and played basketball for the Kansas City Hellcats. She moved to Idaho in 1954 to rejoin family who had migrated to the Nampa area. While working at Simplot in Caldwell, she met her husband of 53 years, Everrett 'Doc' Hill. Married in Nampa, they moved to Pullman while Doc completed his veterinarian schooling. Doc's first practice was in Canada. They spent 8 years in Alberta before returning to Idaho to be near family. Raising their three children, Bonnie also assisted Doc with his veterinary practice till his death in 2009. She was an avid gardener and won many awards at the local fair. She was active in local square dance groups and her Valley Christian church. Family was her focus and many extended family gatherings were spent at the Emmett farm.
Bonnie spent her last years living in Jerome with her family and was always outside "checking up on things". Bonnie will always be remembered as a loving mother and wife. She was quick to smile and always went out of her way to help others.
She is survived by her three children, Katie (Rockne) Lammers of Jerome; Steve (Cherry) Hill of Mount Vernon; and Nancy (Robert) Barnes of Pocatello; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, her sister, Kaye Trautman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
