Oma R. Wyatt

Oma R. Wyatt, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016 in Portland, Oregon. Oma was born November 15, 1916, in Fairview, Oklahoma to Fred A. and Pearl B. Smith. Oma's siblings included Carl, Charles, Vernon, Ellis Manley and Viola as well as Emmett and Kenneth (who passed away as infants.) Her mother died when she was a baby and her father remarried Cora Mae Williams who had seven children. The combined family moved to Caldwell, Idaho in 1922 where they had a farm.
Oma attended school in Caldwell and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1936. She married Willard Lawrence Wyatt on June 1, 1940 and traveled with him to various military sites during World War II. They returned to Caldwell and she worked at the Glen Evans plant until her daughter was born.
She was an active member of the Caldwell Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday School and volunteered whenever there was a need. Oma loved cooking, gardening, reading and doing cross-word puzzles. She was a kind and loving woman with a generous heart.
Survivors include daughter, Linda, and husband, Martin Barney of Beaverton, OR; grandson, Chris Barney, and wife, Jessica Kalista Barney of Everett, WA; nieces & nephews and families include, Judy (Smith) and Clyde Trupp, Carole Smith Elbin, Gregory Smith and Brian Smith, as well as Kim, Kevin, Lydia and Henry Love.
A Celebration of Oma's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28th at the C.V Peckham Community Center adjacent to Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Oma will be laid to rest next to her husband at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell, Idaho.

Oma was a kind and gentle soul who always had a bright smile for everyone. She raised a wonderful daughter, Linda, who is a good friend of mine. Oma was also the best player of the game Sorry that I ever knew! I will miss her.

Oma Wyatt was my mother and she was a wonderful mother. She was a devout Christian and was a kind and generous person. We miss her a great deal but know she is in a better place.
