Carol Ann DiCampli-Coop
1940-2016
Carol Coop died at Hospice House of North Idaho in Coeur d'Alene on October 21, 2016 surrounded by her family.
Carol was born December 15, 1940 to Dorothy and Larry DiCampli. She attended Garfield Elementary, North Junior High, and graduated from Saint Teresa's Academy in 1959. She met Richard Coop at North Junior High, and in her own words "kissed a few frogs" before marrying her prince, Richard on January 8, 1971, he was by her side until she passed.
Carol had many jobs throughout her life, she was a baker at the very first Albertsons store, a counselor at the old Idaho State Penitentiary – she was there when the last prison riot happened, school kitchen manager and cook for many years and for several school districts. As a young mother she was involved with the Head Start program, The Alert Program in Kimberly Idaho-which helped the elderly apply for SSI benefits, and was named the Army Wife of the Year in 1974. Carol was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Carol was a great cook, loved pasta, a good game of pinochle, traveling and tending her flowers and garden.
Carol is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Ann Wilkes, son and daughter-in-law Larry and Teresa Turk, daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Jim Oxley, son and daughter-in-law Patrick and Brenda Coop, dad Carl Greenfield, Richard's two daughters and a son, grandchildren numbering 22 and great grandchildren that number 15. She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy, father Larry, and an infant grandson.
Carol loved being a military wife and mother, she loved people and had a very soft spot for children. When she worked in food service for 16 years, 11 in Grandview and 5 in Meridian, she often paid for lunches for kids as she hated the idea of anyone going hungry. She enjoyed bowling for many years, had a great pair of legs, and loved to laugh. Carol will be remembered and missed by a great number of people whose lives she touched. She loved deeply and that will be missed in the lives of all who benefited from that love.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 24 at 12:00PM at Bowman Funeral Home located at 10254 W Carlton Bay Drive Boise, ID 83714.
