John Andrew Allgair Jr

John Andrew Allgair Jr born December 1, 1939 passed away October 19, 2017 at the age of 77. John was born in Panama and was the son of Lt Colonial John Andrew Allgair Sr and Evelyn Rae Kelser.
John grew up in a military family, living all over the world. He graduated from Yokohama High School in Japan and attended the University of Idaho where he received a degree in Forest Management and a minor in Business Administration. He was in the ROTC university program and at graduation was commissioned into the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant.
During his college years, he met and married in 1961 Joice M. Eld of Donnelly, Idaho.
Following graduation, the couple moved to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, where John completed the Artillery Officer's Orientation Course, and then to Ft Benning, Georgia for Airborne training. As a Regular Army Officer, John was assigned to Ft Richardson, Alaska, where he served three years with the lst Battalion, 37th Artillery, and attained the rank of lst Lieutenant. Joice obtained a teaching position with the junior high school at Ft Richardson.
After completing his military obligation, John resigned his commission in 1965 and accepted a position as Assistant Manager at the USARAL Federal credit Union, which served the military and civilian employees of Ft Richardson and Ft Greely. In the summer of 1965 he was promoted to Manager, a position he held for over ten years. During that time, the Credit union grew from less than two million to over eleven million in assets and over six thousand members, located worldwide. John also became involved in the Alaska Credit Union Association and was instrumental in the formation of the Alaska Credit Union League. He was elected the League's first Managing Director.
In January 1968, the couple had a son, John Alexander Allgair. The family lived in Alaska for fourteen years, enjoying the great outdoors, with numerous hunting, fishing and camping trips in the summer and skiing during the winter.
The family left Alaska in the summer of 1976, moving to Donnelly, Idaho. There John oversaw construction and did much of the work on the family home and worked for a local rancher, constructing buildings and handling equipment maintenance.
In July, 1979, John and Joice divorced but shared in the raising of their son. During the following years John lived in McCall and continued doing construction and running a wood stove dealership.
During the following years, John remarried. In 1980 to Darcy Williamson and in 1989 to Sandy Boian.
John also lived for a period of time in Kailua Kona, Hawaii where he worked in commercial construction. In his later years, John found a love for cooking, snorkeling and living Aloha.
Upon returning to Boise, Idaho, John met Marilyn Garcia, a Boise teacher. They later married in 1999 in Kauai, Hawaii's Garden Island. They enjoyed traveling to many sites including Hawaii, Mexico, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, French Polynesia, Texas and Washington.
John enjoyed the love of family and made a difference in their lives. He leaves behind a loving wife Marilyn, a beloved son John (Arissa), Tavryn, Tayen, Trysten; a sister Cherry, Robert, Lori and Danny; a half-brother John (Angie); a step daughter Michelle (Michael), Connor (Cally) and Jessica; a step son Michael (Veronica), Joaquin and Malena.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Keystone Hospice and Home Watch for their devotion and aid. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
