John H. Ekberg, 66, died Thursday July 20, 2017 at St. Alphonsus in Boise following a brief illness.
He was born in Caldwell, Feburary 11, 1951, to William and Billie Dee (Sorensen) Ekberg. He graduated from Notus High School in 1961.
John headed to Fairbanks Alaska to pursue work on the pipeline and ended up owning a successful construction company. This is where he met his wife, JoAnn Preslan. They spent their 34 years together on many adventures between Alaska, Idaho, and Mexico.
John was a master mechanic, shrewd negotiator and businessman, but mostly, John was exceptionally generous. He was always willing to help folks who needed a hand.
The memorial will be held Sunday August 13 from 2-5 at the home of Jeff Ekberg 21480 Boise River Rd. Caldwell.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the charity of your choice.
He leaves his son Johnathan, daughter Kate, brothers William "Pep" and Jeff, sister Lacy, and 2 granddaughters.

I'm so sad to see this news. My thoughts and prayer are with you all as you celebrate John. I went to school with John in Notus. I remember him as a kind and considerate friend. Will be sorry to miss the gathering next Sunday, but will be thinking of you all.
