Patricia Niece Obituary

Patricia (Pat) Niece
1937 ~ 2016
Patricia (Pat) Niece, 79, passed away unexpectedly January 28, 2016 of natural causes. Patsy Ann Blandin was born January 15, 1937 in Dumas, TX to Charles and Hazel Hare Blandin. Patsy was ninth of fourteen children. In 1945, her mother Hazel passed away, and the children had to be separated. George and Christine Hare Gambril adopted Patsy and changed her name to Patricia. She was raised in Vallejo, CA, graduating high school in 1955. Pat received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from UC Berkley. In 1964, Pat married Fred H Proctor in Napa, CA. They eventually moved to Idaho where they raised their daughters. Pat was active in her daughter's lives. She was a basketball coach, a Campfire leader, hockey mom and their biggest supporter. In 1996, Pat retired from St. Luke's Regional Medical Center. In 1997, she moved to Clayton, Idaho and married Arthur Niece. Together they purchased the Wild River Saloon in Clayton. It was here that Pat was able to find her true happiness. In 2005, Art and Pat moved to Nampa, Idaho where they lived until Art's passing. In 2013, Pat moved to Affinity Retirement community where she enjoyed playing cards and attending happy hour at the local pub with her many friends. Pat was a feisty lady with a great sense of humor and always liked a good joke. Her greatest passion was cooking. There wasn't a recipe that she didn't try. She published a cookbook for her daughters with all their childhood favorite foods. Pat had a creative mind. She was always entering contests, whether it was costume or cooking, she was forever up to the challenge. Her creativity won many prizes. Pat loved to fish the Salmon River and spending time outdoors around her beloved Sawtooth Mountains. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid football fan. She looked forward to Sundays during football season. Her fun loving personality will be greatly missed by all of the lives she touched. Pat is survived by her precious daughters, Kimberlee (Robert)Lowther of Kuna, Idaho and Karmen Horkley (Andy Klinchuch) of Nampa, Idaho; grandchildren: Keri, Tyler, Karissa, Patrick, and Payton; 5 great-grandchildren; grandsons, Robert and Jeremey Lowther and their sons; siblings: Dale Blandin of Mulvane, KS, Phyllis Hart of Chandler, TX, and Gary Rosenstiel of San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Peggy Pearce of Challis, ID and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, adopted parents, siblings, and spouse, Arthur Niece. A celebration of life will be held June 4th at the Community Hall in Clayton, ID at 1 p.m. Cremation services were handled by Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
