Dick was a wonderful dear friend. I met him in 1984 through a mutual friend and I rented his small apt attached to his home in Redwood City. He had a great sense of humor and such a kind man! We shared many phone conversations over the last 30 yrs!

My deepest sympathies to his daughter & son.

Most sincerely,
MaryLouise Hale

I had the privilege to have Dick as a best friend that you could count on and look up to. I wish I could turn the clock back so we could have more time with him . Our prayers go out to Matt and Jennifer through this hard time.

Our dear, sweet brother will be missed so much. Until lately, he led a full and active life with the love of friends and family. He loved his children so much and had a great sense of humor. We would like to attend the Idaho Memorial but can't because of a recent illness.

Our thoughts will be with all of you at that time.

Love,

Uncle Len and Aunt Bettie

I had the pleasure of having Dick as my partner as the night time detectives in East Palo Alto in the early 70's. He made it fun to come to work. We were the first, and only, night time detective K 9 Unit as Dick would bring his family dog to work every night.
He and Joe Moore always traded jokes as to who between them had the 'biggest head' as that is what they called each other (FatHead).
He always expressed great pride in his children.
So sorry for your loss.
