Dear folks:
I was a good friend of Bob at the City of Fremont, where I was a Senior Civil Engineer for many years. In 1984 my wife and I bought a 34 foot trawler and Bob showed great interest in it. We became fast friends and worked and cruised on the boat for several years. We joined Coast Guard Auxiliary together in 1987 and he went on to become Flotilla Commander. When he bought his own boat we cruised our boats in company around the Bay and Delta, and down the coast to Half Moon Bay.
He was always ready to help a friend. We had many good boating days and shared books and magazines. He introduced me to the book "Voyaging under Power" and then he went on to take his own voyage to Central America.
I retired in 1995 and we have since sold our boat and moved to Virginia to be near our grandchildren. Hardly a day goes by when I don't think of our boating years, and Bob was a big part of that life. He will be missed.
